A Visitation Only will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Jackson Funeral Home in Carbondale.

Following visitation, Burial with Military Rites will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.

Bernice Neblett, 84, of Murphysboro, Illinois, answered the Lord’s calling on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Metropolis Rehab and Health Care Center in Metropolis, Illinois.

Bernice was born on May 1, 1941, to George and Mary Winks in Grenada, Mississippi. She lived a life marked by grace, kindness, and quiet strength. A woman of unwavering faith, she carried a gentle spirit that touched all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Georgia Warren of St. Louis, Missouri; nieces, Sharon Smith, Tishaunda Higgerson, Russi (Tony) Austin, and Tomeka Parker; nephew James Green III; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lynn Brown and one brother, Mack Winks.

A Celebration of Life Service for Bernice will be held at a later date.

As the family walks through this season of loss, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, be their comfort in the days ahead.

Arlene Nelson, age 97, answered the Lord’s calling on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Helia Healthcare of Energy.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Colp, Illinois. A visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the church.

Burial will follow in Colp-Dewmaine Cemetery.
