Nothing like a little king cake season joy to brighten the day! 💜💛💚

Today, our team at A Place At Home – Lafayette had so much fun stopping by to visit and treat our amazing referral partners to king cake as a small thank-you for all they do. We truly value the relationships we’ve built in our community and are grateful to work alongside such caring professionals who help support local seniors and families every day.

Here’s to partnership, community, and a little lagniappe during Mardi Gras season! 🎭👑

❄️ Extreme Cold Weather Expected This Weekend ❄️
With freezing temperatures in the forecast, now is the time to prepare—especially for older adults and those receiving care at home.

A few simple steps can make a big difference:
• Keep the thermostat set consistently (at least 68°)
• Dress in layers and use warm blankets
• Check that space heaters are used safely and kept away from flammable items
• Protect pipes, pets, and plants
• Make sure you have extra medications, food, and water on hand
• Check in on elderly neighbors, family members, and friends

At A Place at Home – Lafayette, your safety and comfort always come first. If you or a loved one needs extra support during this cold snap, we’re here to help.

Stay warm, stay safe, and take care of one another

We had a wonderful time attending the open house at AMG Physical Rehabilitation Hospital - Lafayette and touring their beautiful new facility. Congratulations to the entire AMG team on such an impressive space and continued commitment to exceptional rehabilitative care.

Thank you for the warm hospitality and the opportunity to connect. We also enjoyed meeting team members from Garden View Assisted Living of New Iberia, Louisiana and Mobile Xray of Louisiana.

We look forward to working together and confidently referring our clients who may benefit from these trusted services. Here’s to strong partnerships serving our Lafayette community.

It often starts quietly.
A little unsteadiness in the shower.
A hesitation where confidence once lived.
A family wondering how to help—without taking away independence.

At A Place at Home – Lafayette, we walk alongside seniors and their families during these moments, offering gentle, respectful personal care that preserves dignity and brings comfort back into everyday life.

If someone you know may be navigating this season, please share this post. A simple share can help a family feel less alone and open the door to compassionate support at home.

We’re always here to help guide the next step.

As we step into 2026, Acadiana Veteran Alliance is moving forward with purpose, momentum, and an unwavering commitment to those who served.

Over the past 5 years, we’ve seen the power of connection turn into careers, healing turn into hope, and partnerships turn into real, measurable impact for veterans across Acadiana.

In 2026, we’re building on that success—expanding pathways to meaningful employment, strengthening access to mental and physical health support, and creating more on-ramps for veterans to lead, launch, and thrive in civilian life. This next chapter is about scale, innovation, and meeting veterans exactly where they are.

To our veterans: this organization exists because of you, and 2026 is about going further together. Whether you’re transitioning out, searching for your next mission, growing a business, or simply looking for a community that has your back—AVA is here.

To our funders and partners: thank you for believing in what’s possible when veterans are supported with intention and respect. The year ahead is bold, collaborative, and impact-driven—and we’re just getting started. Let’s make 2026 a year of growth, opportunity, and shared success.

This season, our hearts are full of gratitude. We are thankful for the families who trust us, the caregivers who show up with compassion every single day, and the community partners who walk alongside us in caring for our seniors.

Christmas reminds us that home is more than a place. It’s the comfort of familiar routines, the warmth of shared moments, and the peace of knowing you’re not alone. It’s an honor to help make that possible for the families we serve here in Acadiana.

From our A Place at Home – Lafayette family to yours, we wish you a Christmas filled with love, comfort, and meaningful moments at home.

As we move into the holiday season, many families begin to notice new or changing needs in their aging loved ones — and often, the added stress that family caregivers quietly carry.

This month’s A Place At Home – Lafayette blog highlights how the holidays can shine a light on these challenges, and why it’s so important to approach them with compassion, support, and the right resources.

Our professional staff sees firsthand how meaningful it is when families feel supported, informed, and empowered to take the next step in ensuring their loved ones receive the care they deserve.

If you’re spending time with aging parents or relatives this month, I encourage you to read our December blog. It offers helpful signs to watch for, guidance for navigating tough conversations, and ways professional caregivers can make a real difference.
