We are not above taking a beloved staff member, stuffing her in a box and stringing her up with lights in order to highlight our Toys for Tots campaign. From now until December 1st, we are collecting new (and unwrapped) toys for children in our community. We are honoured to be an official collection site for Christmas magic (and the stray employee).

We are open daily with Crisis and Living Room services available 24/7 🎄

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served. Your service has shaped lives, families, communities, and futures — an impact that continues long after the uniform comes off. Today, we honor your courage, your sacrifices, and the resilience it takes to keep going.

Thank you for all you’ve given.

Alzheimer’s and dementia change things — routines, conversations, memories, and relationships. And when you love someone who’s going through that, you go through it too.

Caregiving can become part of daily life slowly, quietly, and sometimes all at once. Even when you want to be there, it can still feel heavy to carry alone.

That’s why gatherings like the Alzheimer’s Education Dinner matter. It’s a chance to learn, connect, and find support for both caregivers and the people they love.

📅 Tuesday, November 11
📍 JCH East Annex Community Room – Jerseyville
⏰ Doors open at 6:15pm • Presentation & Q&A to follow
RSVP: 618-498-8487

Our Caregiver Support Specialist, Michelle, will be there. If you’re caring for someone with memory loss — or think you may be stepping into that role — come say hi. She’ll be sharing information about our Caregiver Support Program, which offers someone to talk to, help navigating resources, support groups, and guidance to stay connected to care.

Whether caregiving is something you chose, something you stepped into, or something that simply became part of your life — you deserve support, too.

Stop by and get support, right here in your community. 🌿

Such a great day at the Prairie Council on Aging’s Senior Day event!

We loved listening, sharing, and connecting with seniors and caregivers who came by to explore the resources and support available to them.

A big thank-you to Prairie Council on Aging for hosting and bringing so many local organizations together. It’s always inspiring to see how much kindness, knowledge, and support exists across our communities!

Have you ever tried to open up and gotten hit with a “you’ll be fine,” “other people have it worse,” or “suck it up”? You finally start to share… and somehow end up feeling even more alone than before.

So you stop.
You shove it down, smile when you have to, and tell yourself to just deal with it. But it keeps building — and nobody really sees it.

We get it.
We’ve been there too.

That’s why we started the Mental Health Support Group at The Locust Street Living Room. It’s not therapy. It’s not about “fixing” anyone or anything. It’s just a space to be honest — about the good, the bad, and everything in between — with people who actually understand.

Sometimes we talk.
Sometimes we just listen.
Sometimes we laugh at how ridiculous life can be.
But every time, we leave a little lighter than we came in.

🗓️ Join us today — Sunday, October 19th at 3PM and every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month
📍 In The Living Room at Locust Street Resource Center located at 320 S. Locust Street, Carlinville, IL

🌿 Can You Help Us Find a Local Printer in Macoupin or Montgomery County?

Hey everyone! We’re looking for a local business that can print business cards — and ideally also handles brochures, booklets, posters, banners, and other materials.

We’d love to keep our money local and support small businesses right here at home, so we’re prioritizing anyone based in Macoupin or Montgomery County before turning to larger or out-of-area options. 💛

We also know that not every business shows up online, so if you or someone you know runs a print shop (even if it’s home-based or part-time), please drop their info below in the comments or send us a message directly.

The best local talent is often the hardest to find, and we’d love to build a lasting connection with someone nearby. 🖨️✨

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental health is not about always holding it together, but about remembering that every mind — every single one — matters.

That your pain is not proof you’re broken. It’s proof that you’re human and that you still feel, still care, still try.

If you’re struggling tonight, you don’t have to fix it all. You don’t have to smile or be strong. You just have to stay.

And if opening up has ever left you feeling dismissed, unseen, or unheard, please know it can be different. There are people who will take you seriously, who will listen, who truly care what happens to you.

Mobile Crisis Support: (217) 854-3160 and The Living Room at Locust Street Resource Center are available 24/7.

You still matter.
You always have. 💚

If you have a mind, you have mental health. 🧠

Too many people think mental health services are only for “extreme” cases — but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Everyone carries something: stress, loss, burnout, anxiety, loneliness, anger, fear, guilt, confusion. We all go through things that take a toll on our minds and emotions.

Getting help isn’t a sign that something’s wrong — it’s a sign that you care about your well-being. It’s about being human and remembering that we all need connection, compassion, and support.

At Locust Street Resource Center, that’s exactly what we’re here for — support for every part of your story, not just the moments of crisis.

Let’s lift the shame, erase the stigma, and start seeing mental health for what it really is: health. 💛
