It's World Autism Awareness Day!

At Locust Street, we celebrate minds of all kinds and believe in creating spaces where people don’t have to change who they are just to feel accepted.

That starts with understanding, patience, and making space — giving people the room to communicate in their own way, honoring when the world feels overwhelming, and taking the time to truly listen.

That’s what acceptance looks like.

And we’re here for acceptance, not just awareness. ∞

April Fools’ Day is full of jokes, pranks, and reasons to laugh and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what we need. A moment to breathe, reset, or not take everything so seriously.

And sometimes, it’s not that easy.

Whatever today looks like for you — light, heavy, or somewhere in between — we hope you find something that makes you smile. 🌿

To celebrate the Christmas holiday, our main offices will be closed until Monday, December 29.

Christmas can be a tender time and to that end, our Living Room and Crisis departments will remain open 24/7 - come to us if you feel overwhelmed, joyless, or simply alone…you aren’t.

We are so grateful to be a cornerstone of mental health in this community and send our best wishes and good tidings to our clients and staff for a blessed Christmas season.

After a two year sabbatical, our Christmas tree in the upstairs window is once again burning bright. (Just goes to show that with space and time, your glow can find its way back.) If you are traveling on South Locust at night, make sure to look up, we’re bright enough for Santa to find. 🎄✨🎅

We are not above taking a beloved staff member, stuffing her in a box and stringing her up with lights in order to highlight our Toys for Tots campaign. From now until December 1st, we are collecting new (and unwrapped) toys for children in our community. We are honoured to be an official collection site for Christmas magic (and the stray employee).

We are open daily with Crisis and Living Room services available 24/7 🎄

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served. Your service has shaped lives, families, communities, and futures — an impact that continues long after the uniform comes off. Today, we honor your courage, your sacrifices, and the resilience it takes to keep going.

Thank you for all you’ve given.

Alzheimer’s and dementia change things — routines, conversations, memories, and relationships. And when you love someone who’s going through that, you go through it too.

Caregiving can become part of daily life slowly, quietly, and sometimes all at once. Even when you want to be there, it can still feel heavy to carry alone.

That’s why gatherings like the Alzheimer’s Education Dinner matter. It’s a chance to learn, connect, and find support for both caregivers and the people they love.

📅 Tuesday, November 11
📍 JCH East Annex Community Room – Jerseyville
⏰ Doors open at 6:15pm • Presentation & Q&A to follow
RSVP: 618-498-8487

Our Caregiver Support Specialist, Michelle, will be there. If you’re caring for someone with memory loss — or think you may be stepping into that role — come say hi. She’ll be sharing information about our Caregiver Support Program, which offers someone to talk to, help navigating resources, support groups, and guidance to stay connected to care.

Whether caregiving is something you chose, something you stepped into, or something that simply became part of your life — you deserve support, too.

Stop by and get support, right here in your community. 🌿
