Join me for Talk it Through on the Skool platform. I will include the link.
Thursday at 7pm EST.
Earlier in the week I mentioned how common abuse is. Sometimes we just take it for granted because it’s so familiar. We are used to functioning in that mode. A word being used a lot more these days is grooming. As you reflect on your life do you feel you experienced grooming?
Grooming is a deliberate process used by abusers to establish an emotional connection with a vulnerable person (often a child) and their family to lower inhibitions, build trust, and gain compliance for abuse. It involves manipulative behaviors designed to isolate the victim and hide the abuse, often occurring in person or online.
Key Aspects of Grooming:
Targeting and Trust-Building: Abusers identify vulnerable individuals and shower them with attention, gifts, or affection to create a false sense of trust.
Isolation: The abuser works to separate the victim from friends, family, or other supportive figures to make them more dependent.
Normalization and Secrecy: Behaviors are designed to make the victim feel special, slowly desensitizing them to inappropriate contact or actions, often enforcing secrecy.
Consequences: Victims may suffer from anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and suicidal thoughts.
Grooming is not a single act but a series of behaviors designed to manipulate and control.
Talk it through sessions are about bringing awareness to where an issue lands in our body and energy field. We then have the opportunity to process that energy even if it's one tiny step at a time.
