This morning, we celebrate the life of Vada Wetzel, 92, of Carlisle. Vada was not just a loving mother and grandmother, she was a strong-willed, independent woman who did things her own way to the very end. Vada was so creative. She was an accomplished seamstress and she made the best tasting, beautifully decorated wedding cakes. She thought outside the box; there wasn't a problem she couldn't solve or a task or craft she didn't master. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her!

Join us in celebrating the life of Jeffrey Dixon, 56, of Carlisle. Jeffrey was born and raised in Carlisle, where he lived all of his life. He worked at Giant Distribution Center for nearly 37 years, which he greatly enjoyed. Jeffrey loved riding motorcycles, riding dirt bikes and driving Mustangs with his son. He enjoyed trucks, shooting guns, going to the beach with his family, his mother and wife's home cooking and homemade baked goods, and much more. He will be greatly missed by all.

Join us in celebrating the life of Donna Houser, 82, of Carlisle. Donna devoted 30 years to music education, most notably teaching middle school orchestra in the Cumberland Valley School District, where she was known as a steady and supportive mentor to her students. During her tenure, she was selected as Teacher of the Year and was also recognized through inclusion in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. In addition to her public-school career, Donna taught private piano lessons for more than 55 years, guiding generations of students with quiet encouragement, patience, and high standards. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Today we honor the life of Gregory Franko, 80, of Carlisle. Gregory proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. After a long career, he retired from Woolworth Corporation. He then worked part-time for the Patriot News for over 2 decades.
Gregory was an avid sports fan and loved watching baseball and football, especially the Pirates and Steelers. He also took great pride in his yard and spent countless hours outside, feeding the birds, squirrels, deer and even the wild turkey that visited his property. He will be greatly missed.

Join us in celebrating the life of LaRue Wagner, 83, of Carlisle. A talented baker, LaRue was employed practicing her craft at several locations locally including Cumberland Valley High School, Konhaus Farms Market, and Giant Foods. LaRue was very active in the community. She was a longtime member of Silver Spring Ambulance & Rescue Association, serving as a driver & EMT, New Kingstown Fire Company 33, where she served as Treasurer among other titles and duties, New Kingstown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles #1299, and assisted at her local election location. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Today we honor the life of H. David Miller Jr., 89, of Carlisle. Dave served in the United States Army and was a member of the First Church of God in Carlisle. Dave found great joy in helping others and his community. Throughout the years, he served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, Orrstown Bank and the Church of God Home. He additionally served on the Board of Directors for Clyde Dupin Ministries. We thank him for his service to our country, and we wish peace upon his family.

Today we celebrate the life of Fred Zimmerman Sr., 74, of Newville. Fred was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and especially the mountains. He was a lifetime member of the Carlisle Fraternal Order of Eagles #1299 and a member of Big Spring Fish & Game Inc. He will be greatly missed.
