Today we honor the life of Howard "Pinky" Houston Jr., 97, of Carlisle. Pinky proudly served his country during the Korean War in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. Following his military service, he returned to work at the phone company, working his way up until he finally retired as Vice President of Revenues & External Affairs in 1990 after 43 years of service. He was passionate about antiques and could often be found at auctions and flea markets. Most of all, Howard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend and will be remembered as a true family man.

Join us in honoring the life of Marcia Toms, 65, of Carlisle. Marcia was most recently employed at Capital Blue Cross as a Quality Assurance Analyst. She also spent time performing audits and claims review for Parente Randolph, LLC. She started her career as a surgical floor staff nurse at Community General Osteopathic Hospital. Marcia was a loving pet parent of 2 Boston Terriers, Bella & Buttons. She enjoyed traveling with her husband across the country and spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Today we honor the life of Donald Conaway, 76, of Carlisle. Donald enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. He returned to finish his degree while working in accounting for Department of the Navy in Mechanicsburg. Upon retirement, he used those skills to serve Lower Frankford Township as Manager. He was a man of many talents; he designed and built his own home in the mountains. He would never turn down a chance to fish with friends, and he has created wood carvings and paintings in various mediums in later years. He will be greatly missed.

Today we honor the life of Sharon Costigan, 78, of Halifax. Sharon had a zest for life and a gift for storytelling. She loved sharing stories from her adventures and life experiences, captivating everyone around her. Always ready for the next adventure, she delighted in traveling to new destinations, hunting for treasures at yard sales and auctions, exploring thrift stores, and attending concerts. Sharon spent many fulfilling years as the head cook at Waring Dining Hall at Penn State University, where she not only prepared meals but also formed meaningful connections with the students who came through her line. Those who knew Sharon will forever remember her infectious laugh, her captivating stories, and the joy she brought to every gathering.

Today we celebrate the life of Galen Baker, 77, of Carlisle. Galen graduated from Big Spring High School, Class of 1966. Following graduation, he earned an Electronic Technology Degree from Electronic Institutes in 1968. He also attended Penn State University, Berks Campus, Reading, for engineering drafting. Galen designed the layout of electronic circuitry for oscillators and filters for three crystal industries in Carlisle, PA. His last position prior to his retirement was with Flight System Industrial Products as an electronics/ mechanical design engineer. Galen was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Newville. He served on church council and played in the bell choir. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Join us in honoring the life of Michael Brandt, 58, of Gardners. Michael is a 1985 graduate of Big Spring High School. Michael retired from Weavers of Wellsville after 31 years of service. Michael was an avid mountain biker, pilot and loved working outside. He also loved doing projects to improve his home and property. Jeeps were his passion along with a good beer lager, cuddling with his cats and listening to his favorite band “Starset”. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Today we honor the life of Roger Myers, 67, of Newville. Roger grew up in Carlisle and attended Big Spring High School. In 1976 he decided to proudly serve his country and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Roger had numerous talents and varied work experiences throughout his life. His career path left him to become a Water Treatment Plant Operator at Land O’ Lakes in Mount Holly, where he worked for over 32 years. Roger’s work ethic and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. His friends and family remember him as a hardworking individual who knew there was a right and wrong way of doing things. He will be missed.
