WE ARE TURNING✌️TODAY 🥳

We love celebrating BIRTHdays around here and we could not pass up the moment to share that it is ours 🫶

Thank you to the 200+ San Diego families who have trusted us to provide Doula services during their very most tender days of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. To witness what you are experiencing firsthand and so intimately is a true privilege and we do not take that honor lightly.

And we would be nothing without our incredible labor and postpartum doulas who show up fearlessly and compassionately every day. Thank you for believing in Doulas Of North County and being fabulous YOU!

And to our perinatal providers, fellow birthworkers, and all the incredible professionals who refer their precious clients to us. We see you and we love you and we are grateful for what you do for these families as well.

And, of course, to my husband, children, family, and friends who’ve cheered me along the way to keep going and believing in the vision.

Two years is just the beginning! I cannot wait to see where we go.

This in-person, two day class is created for parents-to-be in their third trimester. This class is designed to be taken in addition to (or replacing) your hospital-based birth prep class. Think of this as a crash course for birth prep taught by your favorite doulas who will tell it to you straight 😉 You will learn the stages of labor and comfort measures for each stage, how to write a birth plan, common medical interventions used in birth, labor/pushing positions, strategies for advocating within the medical system, and tips for birth partners to best support the birthing person. This course is designed to be taken with your birthing partner, if you choose.

Classes are held at the Doulas of North County office at 3150 Pio Pico Dr suite 101/103 Carlsbad, California 92008

When it comes to birthing your baby, our biggest wish for you is that you feel in the drivers seat of your labor experience. We know that one of the best ways to feel prepared is to get educated on the birthing process and learn skills for how to communicate your preferences and ask good questions to your medical team.

Most of us are not taught how to be our own advocate in a medical setting and it is a skill that take some forethought and practice. This is exactly why we wanted to share with you some tips on how to develop advocacy skills for your birth.

We love our medical providers - your nurses, midwives, and OBGYNs want the best for you and your baby - but we also know that the medical system is underresourced and overworked and sometimes things like policies and procedures can change the course of your birth (when it wasn’t always medically necessary do to so). It’s so hard to speak up, ask questions, or get clarity about your providers recommendations unless you know more about birth and the tools your medical team have access to to support your labor and how to communicate effectively with the medical team.

You can learn all about this by registering for our free webinar on Friday, August 16 at 11:30am PT over Zoom where you can learn concrete tips and strategies for becoming your best advocate (hot tip: invite your birthing partner to watch and learn!).
