🌍✨ Camp Cosmos Holiday 2025 is almost here! ✨🌍
This year’s theme is “It’s a Small World: Holiday Traditions Around the Globe” — and we’re inviting our community to help us make it truly special.

We’re looking for volunteers who want to share their time, talents, or even a cultural holiday tradition with our families!
Volunteer in person or through our online program — everyone is welcome.

Camp Cosmos is a no-cost event for youth with physical differences & disabilities and their families. Spots are filling fast, so register today!

Celebrating Joseph & Gabriel Pacheco today — on World Kindness Day, which also happens to be their birthday! 🎉💙
These two just turned 19 and just started college, yet they still show up to volunteer at almost every ConnectMed event. Always ready to help, always kind, always showing up for our community.

Did you know that most of Camp Cosmos psychosocial programs are offered both in person and online? And the online versions match or simulate the activities taking place at the live versions!

This helps ensure that our programs are accessible as possible. Plus they are enriching for families-
perhaps in ways that are different from in person events, but equally impactful!

As one parent told us after our last Saturday’s virtual event :
(My daughters) had a great time at the virtual event! Afterward (my daughter) said “Mama I love Camp Cosmos. We get a box to open with a present inside and a treat & a craft & we got to watch TWO videos!” They both can’t wait for the next one…thank you for making a special space for children with facial differences. “

What a great community gathering and collaboration with HorsePlay Collective at the recently opened Reciprocity Ranch in San Diego (Carmel Valley)🐴!!

Families met, fed, groomed and painted the lovely resident horses, joined nature-themed breathwork activities with , learned about and planted native succulents, and more. Parents enjoyed building connections and support group discussions facilitated by

Most of all families enjoyed the benefits of equine therapy while being outdoors among a supportive community of others with similar journeys and experiences.

Special thanks to Dr. Ali and Dr. Shannon, visionaries behind this beautiful ranch and project, and their team of volunteers!

The CCA Family Retreat and Educational Symposium provides craniofacial patients and their families opportunities to interact with others from around the country who have gone through similar experiences.

This unique gathering fosters a safe and welcoming environment to meet new people, reconnect with friends, and share ideas, problems and solutions.

We are proud to support and promote CCA (Children’s Craniofacial Association) and this annual retreat which CCA carefully designs to inspire hope and nurture lasting bonds.

Girl Scouts of San Diego
ConnectMed is proud to be a Girl Scouts of San Diego Community Partner. We are honored to be the only organization who provides local Girl Scouts the opportunity to earn the Ability Awareness & Inclusion Badge. We recently hosted 72 Girl Scouts, parents and troop leaders for a badge-earning event, held at the GSSD Balboa Park Leadership Center. Participants learned skills for including others and ability awareness through games, art activities and small group play.
Ability Awareness means focusing on what somebody can do, not what they can’t. Inclusion is the idea that we appreciate each other, that we see each other’s gifts and that we value being together; it’s the right to belong, whether or not disabilities are a factor.

🎃 Happy Halloween!

Halloween can be tough for people with visible differences.

Too often, scars, burns, and real-life conditions are used in costumes and characters to look “scary” or “monster-like.” This outdated narrative — that disfigurement = evil — fuels stigma and teaches fear.

For many, it means more anxiety, bullying, and intrusive questions this time of year.

When picking a costume, please make sure it:
– Isn’t based on a real condition or disability
– Doesn’t use mobility aids as props
– Doesn’t mock physical or mental illness

We put the FUN in fundraising at our Crystal Ball this weekend! Guests had a blast striking a pose at The Oracle Photo Booth and together, we raised critical support for next year’s programs benefiting medically complex children.
