Not every family can make it to our in-person events—but that doesn’t mean they miss out on the magic 💙

Before our event at Fox Point Farms, our Virtual Workshop families were already part of the experience.

Each child received a curated activity box delivered right to their doorstep—filled with hands-on crafts and activities inspired by the farm 🐄

Then, when the big day came, our in-person families got to bring that same theme to life—creating, exploring, and sharing a beautiful afternoon together.

Because every child deserves to feel included, connected, and part of something special—no matter where they are.

Highlights from our March 8th Joe Day—an incredible day bringing people together to raise funds for the Joe Ebner Scholarship. This support helps bring kids from all over the country to San Diego for Camp Cosmos each July, where they connect with others who share similar craniofacial differences and build real, lasting confidence in a space where they’re understood.
If you’d like to be part of it, donate through the link in our bio.

Meet the Joe Ebner Scholarship winners!
Brielle is back for her second year!

“Last year’s experience made me feel brave, proud of who I am, and comfortable being myself without worrying about what others think.

This year, I hope we can laugh and swim together and talk about things we don’t always get to talk about with other people.”

Belated post (March 8), a day that means a lot to our organization that was founded and is primarily run by women

This year we focus on one truly exceptional woman: Glendora Tremper, —— to 2025.

Glendora was a ConnectMed volunteer even before we officially formed, and continued helping us for the rest of her life.

She was such a fun & outgoing mother, sister & friend.
She loved travel, adventure, dance, good food and good wine.
She worked with and advocated for kids with special needs in San Diego.
And she was an incredibly gifted speech therapist who volunteered hundreds & hundreds of hours working with young people with cleft & craniofacial conditions in Mexico.

She was a force of nature, and is deeply missed by many on both sides of the border. She truly captured the resilience, adaptability, humor and heart that is a thread among so many women around the world.

THANKS & CHEERS to everyone who came out yesterday to Joe Day at to raise funds for the Joe Ebner Scholarship - now in its 6th year❤️. Special thanks to ….for hosting the event and for donating 25% of yesterday’s proceeds!

This scholarship allows something pretty special to happen each summer in Joe’s name and honor. 10 young people with complex & chronic medical conditions, and 10 parents, get to step away from navigating hospital visits, surgeries, academic and social challenges…..and focus on themselves, on having fun in the sun, and on building lasting community with others who get what they are going through.

And this year we are bringing back some previous recipients who are teenagers to be “camp counselors” and mentors to others!

If you would like to show your support, you can still send a gift through the link in our bio.

Meet Joe Ebner Scholarship winner Wesley.

Wesley is still unaware when kids are picking on him in public, but his school has helped create mostly positive relationships.

This summer, he’ll travel to San Diego to meet kids like him and build skills for handling negative comments.

Meet the recipients of the Joe Ebner Scholarship!

Braeleigh doesn’t have friends who invite her over or come to our home, but this summer, she gets to just be a normal teenager—having fun, making memories, and being herself.

She doesn’t notice her differences—she’s simply Braeleigh. 💛

Welcome to the ConnectMed Board, Liz Robinson! 💫
Liz is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who has supported children, families, and military couples across San Diego.

Today, she serves as a Director of Healthcare Services, leading nurses and therapists who care for vulnerable members of our community.

For the last two years, she has generously facilitated many parent support groups during our psychosocial programs, empowering caregivers to feel empowered and connected.

“Connecting with this vulnerable community is so important to me and to be a part of a mission that offers advocacy and support is so important to my heart.

The best part is witnessing the progress that is made with families and seeing kiddos thrive and be happy as a result.”

Thanks to the support of donors and grantors like the Donegan Burns Foundation and The Country Friends of Rancho Santa Fe, we are offering TWO week-long horse therapy summer camps, “The Herd Connection”.
Both are offered at no cost to 12 medically complex youth at Sandia Creek Ranch in Fallbrook. And the demand is clear: in a week we have received over 200 applications!
Launched in 2021, this special program creates a space for connection, confidence-building, and personal growth through equine experiences. Opportunities like this aren’t just fun — they’re transformational. The bond between a child and a horse can build strength, trust, and emotional resilience in ways that last far beyond camp.
To horse-lovin’ supporters and sponsors...Thanks for riding alongside us allowing us to double our impact this year!

• Favorite thing to do in your free time?
I play tennis! I have played since I was 3 years old. I also workout a bit and read all the books.
• If you could have ANY super power, what would it be and why?
I would choose time travel to go back in time to see history unfold, or undo not great decisions I have made over time.
• What do you like most about connecting with the craniofacial community?
I love the unspoken bond we have. We have all been through the wringer in some way, and I can see it the kids and adults eyes. We are veterans of a very different kind of war  — a war for our hearts, minds, and souls.  It’s also lovely to just chat and laugh it up with people who truly appreciate joy in the ways that we do.

As our 2025 Workshop Series comes to a close, we’re sending heartfelt thanks to our 6 incredible speakers who shared their experiences with honesty and vulnerability — helping create space for healing, confidence, and meaningful connection.

Our first 2:

✨ Liz & Maddie Adams — twin sisters and founders of Courageously Kind, who inspired young people with visibile differences & disabilities to lead with kindness and compassion.

✨ Vanessa Acero — licensed family therapist living with craniofacial differences, who shared practical mental health tools and insights to support both parents and children.
