A healthy diet includes plenty of fat, as well as protein, carbohydrate and vegetables. The main problem I see with patient's diets on a regular basis is that they eat too many carbohydrates, sugars and low-fat foods. Fats are essential for vitamin absorption and I tell my patients "don't eat low-fat anything"!

Despite a growing body of evidence in favor of fat in our diets, government policy continues to press against it.

Patients often ask me what is a good general rule about diet.
