Lisane Basquiat has spent her life observing what happens when we talk our way out of rapport with our own voice and choose to settle, instead, and speak ourselves into feigning satisfaction with meeting external demands as a way of life. “We have inside of us everything that we could ever imagine to get us to where we want to go. With that we have 100% personal accountability to design, take responsibility for, and to get into the driver’s seat of our own unique life experience. Its not only possible and something we should be talking ourselves INTO; it is how we honor our time here.” Lisane is, ultimately, a facilitator of discussions about life and about showing up. Lisane is a Certified Professional Coach (iPEC graduate), an Accredited Energy Leadership Coach, and Board Certified by the Association of Integrative Psychology in three modalities - as a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a Master Practitioner of Mental and Emotional Release® (MER) Therapy, and of Hypnotherapy. She is also a Reiki practitioner, a certified Advanced Theta Healer, and an ordained Minister.. Her overall mission and approach is to facilitate the process of helping adult humans achieve their personal and professional best. Lisane loves the serenity of mountains, water, fresh air, open space, and sunshine. She enjoys her life in both San Diego, CA and in the Tri-State area and believes she has the best of both worlds. When off the road, she spends her time writing, seeking adventures, eating great food, reading, making the best use of her time here, and connecting to herself and other humans. I am beyond honored and truly at a loss for words. ❤️✨
The County of San Diego is proclaiming February 25, 2025, as "Lisane Basquiat Day" in recognition of my work in the community, my commitment to empowerment, and my love for this incredible city. To be acknowledged during Black History Month and in the spirit of International Women’s Day is a moment I will cherish forever.

A heartfelt thank you to Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer and Meghan Elledge, Chief of Staff, for this incredible honor. I am deeply grateful for this recognition and for the opportunity to serve and uplift others.

Still in awe of this special recognition at Swann-Con 2025! 🏆 I was deeply honored - and completely stunned - to be the first ever recipient of the Betty J. Lee Heart & Impact Award, named after Elaine Swann’s incredible mother. And to make it even more special, my children showed up for the presentation for the award. 💛

Supporting women in leadership, business, and personal growth is a privilege, and I am so grateful to surrounded by communities that uplift and empower one another through my work with both Hera Hub Carlsbad and Shaping Freedom.

Welcome Friends!

My name is Lisane Basquiat. I was born in Brooklyn to a Puerto Rican mother and a Haitian father who emigrated to the U.S. by himself at the age of 17 in the midst of a genocide. My Life Path number is 5, which is said to be the number that represents a person who is a Freedom Seeker with the Spirit of Change and Adventure. This Spirit runs through the Basquiat family lineage. I come from generations of trailblazing entrepreneurs, artists, healers and champions of human dignity. My big brother Jean-Michel is the most recognizable Freedom Seeker in my family. His commitment to his art and living his truth led him to a cultural icon status.

I believe that you have the ability to live an incredibly rich and fulfilling life when you exist in complete alignment with your desires, beliefs, and choices. I created Shaping Freedom to offer a holistic framework for healing that integrates personal and professional leadership, spirituality, and connection.

I’m a former corporate executive who mastered valuable business skills in business transformation, organizational change management and project leadership. In 2008, I embarked on my own path of entrepreneurship. By following my intuition and curiosity, I immersed myself in learning about the human and spirit connection and became accredited in a number of healing modalities. I’m Board Certified by the Association of Integrative Psychology as a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), a Master Practitioner of Mental and Emotional Release® (MER) Therapy, a Master Reiki Practitioner, a Certified Professional Coach (iPEC graduate), an Accredited Energy Leadership Coach, a certified Advanced Theta Healer, and an ordained Minister.

I know firsthand that when you remember who you are and why you’re here, you can live a purposeful, fulfilling and joyful life.
