Public confession time. I have an addiction.
I think I've had this addictive personality for a long time. Fortunately I've used it in positive forms, not always, but for the most part.
I've craved attention in the form of kudos and affirmations, rewards for accomplishments, respect for what I do, not for who I am.
Through those addictions I've found ways to express creativity in my own way and pursued personal growth.
Then personal growth and expressions of creativity themselves became my addiction.
Here's why. I believe men were wired for these things:
🧠PURPOSE - the compass that guides our path, the personal Operating System of our life
👷🏻 PRODUCTIVITY - the desire to create things worthwhile
I went through a personal growth exercise last year where I had to write down my 5 core values. No prompt, no system. Just write down your 5 core values. YOURS, not the canned "God, family, country" BS
There are a lot of values that come to mind, and it's not easy narrowing down to 5 that. Even if you print off a list of 56 common values, how do you narrow them down?
So I created a system and gamified it to find my 5.
The result was amazing - my 5 resonated strongly with me, it felt like they define who I really am.
🧠PURPOSE
⚔️ INTEGRITY
đź”± COMMUNITY (brotherhood)
🗺️ STRATEGY
🔥 GROWTH (Productivity)
I've experienced what I consider breakthrough personal transformations as a result of my addictions expressed in positive form. The confidence gained is powerful.
Another thing men are wired for is brotherhood, a sense of community with like minded men in the pursuit, on a journey, or on an adventure together.
And as a great book of wisdom says, as Iron Sharpens Iron, one man Sharpens another. So I found my like minded men who were a few steps ahead of me in the 6 Pillars of Man.
These men appreciate my accomplishments past and present, but more importantly they challenge me to RISE and BECOME the Warrior I was created to be. But not on my own; in a system of brotherhood, support, and accountability - becoming Warriors Together.
I'm thankful for these men in front of me, and for those alongside of me.
I'm on a journey. Does any of this resonate? Let's join forces, RISE and BECOME together.
