Public confession time. I have an addiction.

I think I've had this addictive personality for a long time. Fortunately I've used it in positive forms, not always, but for the most part.

I've craved attention in the form of kudos and affirmations, rewards for accomplishments, respect for what I do, not for who I am.

Through those addictions I've found ways to express creativity in my own way and pursued personal growth.

Then personal growth and expressions of creativity themselves became my addiction.

Here's why. I believe men were wired for these things:
🧭 PURPOSE - the compass that guides our path, the personal Operating System of our life
👷🏻 PRODUCTIVITY - the desire to create things worthwhile

I went through a personal growth exercise last year where I had to write down my 5 core values. No prompt, no system. Just write down your 5 core values. YOURS, not the canned "God, family, country" BS

There are a lot of values that come to mind, and it's not easy narrowing down to 5 that. Even if you print off a list of 56 common values, how do you narrow them down?
So I created a system and gamified it to find my 5.
The result was amazing - my 5 resonated strongly with me, it felt like they define who I really am.

🧭 PURPOSE
⚔️ INTEGRITY
đź”± COMMUNITY (brotherhood)
🗺️ STRATEGY
🔥 GROWTH (Productivity)

I've experienced what I consider breakthrough personal transformations as a result of my addictions expressed in positive form. The confidence gained is powerful.

Another thing men are wired for is brotherhood, a sense of community with like minded men in the pursuit, on a journey, or on an adventure together.

And as a great book of wisdom says, as Iron Sharpens Iron, one man Sharpens another. So I found my like minded men who were a few steps ahead of me in the 6 Pillars of Man.
These men appreciate my accomplishments past and present, but more importantly they challenge me to RISE and BECOME the Warrior I was created to be. But not on my own; in a system of brotherhood, support, and accountability - becoming Warriors Together.

I'm thankful for these men in front of me, and for those alongside of me.

I'm on a journey. Does any of this resonate? Let's join forces, RISE and BECOME together.

Because 2 > 1, but a braided cord of 3 is unbreakable.

🔱⚔️ Warriors Together 🔱⚔️ UPDATE

I started Warriors Together with a huge vision to serve veterans, construction, first responders, and farmers. Why? There was a lot of overlap. There were commonalities in the high su***de risk, the risk factors, and barriers to seeking help. One of the factors was that these are male dominant communities, where men often build alone. They isolate through trial and triumph, through struggle and success.
The while idea of Warriors Together is that we don't have to do that anymore. The Power is in Together.
But here's the deal. I was doing it alone myself.
I built Warriors Together because I needed brotherhood, yet I was building brotherhood alone. I couldn't cross the tipping point to achieve and sustain a state of growth while trying to do it all, while doing it alone and carrying the weight all in my shoulders. The vision was just too big to do it myself. So I reconnected with a couple friends I knew back in San Diego and what they were doing lined up so well with Warriors Together. They just framed their "6 Pillars of Man" a little differently then I framed my 5 pillars of personal resilience, but if you peeled out all back, it's the same onion.
They also put together a team that had poured a lot into technology, resources, and content structure, with an incredibly simple system of daily accountability. They integrated a broader high level of coaching across each of their pillars.
So here's what I did.

I've joined my veteran buddies as a Founding Member to build something called Millionaire Man Cave.

It’s a coaching brotherhood built to help MEN level up leadership, build legacy, and live free.

Our mission is simple: to raise up bold men who are growing in each of The 6 Pillars of Man: Faith, Fitness, Family, Friendships, Finances, and Fight.

We live by a code: We honor truth over trends, purpose over passivity, impact over ego… The brotherhood keeps us accountable and we build together, not alone.

This is really helping me become a better Man, Husband, Father & Leader = a Warrior. I finally feel like I have the right combination of strategy, accountability and support I need to make a real impact. The brotherhood is just getting started. We opened the doors Jan 1 and we're building a group of founding members before we have a public launch this fall.

(continued in the comments)

LFG!

🪜 RISE Beyond [ SUFFERING ]
"Suffering is always the effect of wrong thought in some direction. It is an indication that the individual is out of harmony with himself, with the law of his being." -As A Man Thinketh

Most people associate suffering with pain, be it physical, mental, or spiritual. They assume suffering to be an automatic result of all pain. However, suffering is not a result of pain, but a RESPONSE to it.

Pain is a natural signal that warns you that something is wrong. Suffering on the other hand results from our wrong thinking about the pain.

Many of us have experienced the pain of divorce, layoff,, financial disaster, self-doubt, fear, and numerous other situations, but we do not have to suffer from our pain. That is our choice.

Deepak Chopra defines suffering as "that which threatens to make life meaningless."
Life is meaningless when we don't have direction, a goal, a vision, or a purpose to pursue. That's when we are inviting suffering into our life.

MAKE YOUR PAIN PRODUCTIVE:

PAIN prompts PURPOSE
PURPOSE prompts PASSION
PASSION prompts POWER
POWER prompts PRODUCTIVITY

Declare this now:
I am committed to turning the pain I've experienced in my life into productivity for myself and others. I choose not to suffer, but to RISE Beyond it so that it does not block the blessings God has planned for my life.

RISE Beyond [ IMAGE ]

"Change of diet alone will not help a person who will not change his thoughts. When a person makes his thougts pure, he no longer desires impure food." —As A Man Thinketh

Your repeated pattern of thinking is predecessor to your actions. You can change your actions, diet, circumstances, etc, but not sustain them to achieve your desired outcomes because you did not change your pattern of thinking.

You are unlikely to ever achieve sustainable success that exceeds the image you have of yourself. Until you see yourself with the results you desire and understand you are deserving of those results, your chances of attaining those results remain low.

A quote by James Allen captures this:
"Mind is the Master power that molds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes,
The tool of Thought, and shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills;
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass;
Environment is but his looking glass."

The origins of meditation have roots in Hebrew terms like hâgâh (to murmur, ponder). It involves the active emptying of limiting thoughts from the mind and replacing them with The Liberating Truths.

Thinking creates image; image creates feelings; feelings prompt repeated actions; repeated actions form routines; routines create results.

Elite teams in military and sports practice image modeling through multi-sensory inputs: Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Olfactory, and Gustatory—representing how people process and represent their world.

Start by declaring this today:
I am CREATED by the CREATOR of all CREATION in the IMAGE of the CREATOR Himself; therefore I cast off my limiting thoughts and embrace The Liberating Truths; I envision myself with the blessings God has prepared for me.

RISE Beyond [ PAST ]

"Do not dwell upon the sins and mistakes of yesterday so exclusively as to have no energy and mind left for living rightly today, and do not think that the sins of yesterday can prevent you from living purely today." —Byways of Blessedness

It's easy when you're younger to see that there's more life ahead of you than there is behind you. As you age, it often is easy to view inversely to that thought. While we think fondly on the good times and achievements in the past, our nature is to recall mistakes, decisions, and actions that we regret, and wish we had done something differently.

Letting the sins and mistakes of YESTERDAY dominate our thinking TODAY robs us of our present joy and the opportunities we have in front of us NOW.

John Maxwell writes: To move forward today, you must learn to say goodbye to yesterday's hurts, tragedies, and baggage.

We must RISE beyond our past. We must drive with forward vision of where we're going through the windshield, not by staring down the rearview mirror of where we came from.

Your past can be either an anchor or a rudder for your life boat. It can hold you in place if you dwell on it; or it can guide you if you learn from it.

Here's an exercise to help you:
1. List the negative events you recall from your past.
2. Acknowledge the pain you felt and may still feel today.
3. Grieve and process the loss.
4. Forgive the others involved - relieve the weight from their shoulders.
5. Forgive yourself - relieve the weight from your shoulders.
6. Reflect on what you've learned from the experience.
7. Decide now all of that is in the past, release yourself from the burden of that event, and move on.

Declare this today:
I release everything in my past that holds me back, so I can walk into the blessings God has prepared for me.

RISE Beyond [ SEEDTIME ]

"Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad redsults; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results. This is but saying that nothing can come from corn but corn, nothing from nettles but nettles." —As A Man Thinketh

Did you know that our minds are most impressionable immediately upon rising in the morning and just before falling asleep at night?
It's true. And what do most people expose their minds to first thing in the morning and last thing at night? Call it entertainment, call it news, call it doom scrolling. But for most people, you may as well call it spoiled seed.

Fresh from consuming and thinking about the day's murders, indictments, crime, fraud, corruption, divisive politics, gossip, and all manner of "news", it shouldn't come as a surprise that by sowing these thoughts you will surely reap a negative, suspicious, or adversarial feelings toward drivers in traffic, coworkers, or even your own family and friends.

Give up those negative, unhealthy, and unproductive content consuming rituals!

Replace them with time invested in reading personal development and leadership books, prayer and meditation, practice of gratitude, skill development, exercise, or productive work toward advancing your side hustle. Try it for just a week and tell me you don't feel better!

There's a lot of neuroscience behind this, and the practice of neurolinguistic modeling has become more and more mainstream in high performing individuals.

You can even go all the way back to the Apostle Paul who wrote: "Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right; think upon things that are pure and lovely; dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you have that you can praise God and be grateful for."

It's a core law of life. The harvest you receive is directly related to the seeds you sow, and that's also true with our thoughts.
The secret then is to control our mental, emotional, psychological states; to program and model the focus of our thinking.

While we are a product of our environment, our environment is a product of us. YOU CAN CREATE and dwell and soak in the environment that will create a stronger, healthier, happier product that is YOU. That's something worth thinking about.

I accept responsibility for sowing the proper seed to receive the harvest God has prepared for me.

RISE Beyond [ ALITERACY ]

"People are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound." —As A Man Thinketh

We easily spend thousands of dollars a year on clothing, cosmetics, and accessories to polish our outward appearance, yet we often spend next to nothing to improve our inward condition. We will dedicate an hour every day to bathing, shaving, and styling, but find every excuse in the world to avoid spending even a few minutes renewing the mind.

It is our thoughts that determine the quality of the life we lead. If you want to change your life, you must change your thoughts—and nothing is more effective at renewing the mind than reading the right books.

Charlie "Tremendous" Jones famously said that you will be the same person in five years as you are today, except for two things:

The people you most closely associate with.

The books you read.

While your associates cannot always be with you, the wisdom you consume through reading remains with you for a lifetime and becomes a legacy you can pass down to others.

There are 3 things you can do to conquer aliteracy and sharpen your mind:

Invest Inward. Stop prioritizing the "container" over the "content." We are quick to buy a new outfit to feel better, but true confidence comes from competence. Reallocate a fraction of your grooming time or "scrolling" time to the intentional study of great minds. When you improve the man inside, the circumstances outside begin to shift.

Curate Your Mentors. You may never meet the greatest thinkers in history, but you can have a private conversation with them every day through their writing. Reading allows you to bypass years of trial and error by absorbing the life lessons of those who came before you. If you aren't reading, you are voluntarily choosing to learn everything the hard way.

Choose Growth Over Comfort. Which man is truly the least: the one who does not have the ability to read (the illiterate), or the one who has the ability but chooses to let it wither (the aliterate)? To have the key to a door and refuse to turn it is its own kind of prison.

To boost your growth mindset, start your day with this declaration: "I am an active participant in my own evolution. I choose to feed my mind with truth and wisdom, knowing that as I improve my inner world, my outer world must follow."

I accept the growth and wisdom God has prepared for those who seek it.

RISE Beyond [CIRCUMSTANCES]
" A person cannot directly choose his circumstances, but he can choose his thoughts, and so indirectly, yet surely, shape his circumstances." -As A Man Thinketh

A story is told of twin brothers, one who rose to the executive boardroom, the other who fell to drug addiction and homelessness.

Each was asked "How did you end up here?"

The homeless drug addict said, "My father was a homeless drug addict."

The executive said, "My father was a homeless drug addict."

They shared the same father, the same DNA, the same childhood experiences and upbringing, the same education. But each chose different thinking about their common experience.

You're either living in the problem or you're living in the solution. Get busy living or get busy dying.

Change your thinking from the problems and situations that block your path, to the opportunities to learn and grow through them on the way to a big win.

Declare:
No circumstances can stand in the way of the blessings God has written into His plan for me.

RISE Beyond [SURRENDER]
"Your circumstances may be uncongenial but they shall not remain so if you only perceive an ideal and strive to reach it. You cannot travel within and stand still without." -As A Man Thinketh

In our darkest hour, when you're down and the demons come to whisper in your ear, it's hard to see through the dark clouds to the other side of the present storm. It's usually at this time that our greatest growth can occur if we understand enduring the challenge brings about new strength. Take command over your wandering thoughts, control them, order them to cease, and think intead upon the ideal we pursue.
Then MOVE. A body at rest remains at rest, paralyzed by a challenge, and becomes a risk. Activate motion. A body in motion stays in motion and can navigate obstacles.

Peak performers don't have the absence of challenges and troubles; they have determination that surrender is not an option when faced with those challenges and struggles. Surrender is not in their vocabulary.

Declare:
I accept nothing less than the blessings God has written into His plan for me.

RISE Beyond [DOUBT]
"Thoughts of doubt and fear can never accomplish anything. They always lead to failure." -As A Man Thinketh

The Great Depression may have been avoided if not for the viral panic and toxic doubt that swept the minds of Americans after the stock market crash of 1929.

Fear was such a prevailing mood that President Roosevelt felt compelled to deliver his now famous words of wisdom, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself". FDR's speech was inspired by Napoleon Hill, author of the mind renewing classic Think and Grow Rich.

Doubt is a seed that grows into a mood of fear, which when sustained manifests itself physically as anxiety. Anxiety is a thief of our power, energy, and purpose. If not intercepted it undermines our health, and creates a negative cycle that spirals into darker places.

There are 3 things you can do to conquer fear and doubt.
1. Renew your mind. One of my favorite revelations about problem solving is this:
"The problem is not the problem we think it is; the problem is the way we think about the problem."
When we change the way we think about the problem, the problem itself changes. Work with a coach if needed, but continue to reframe the problem until the problem can be solved and is no longer a problem. And that's worth thinking about.

2. Action overcomes fear. Isolation and stagnation allow you to soak in the bath of doubt. Action gets you moving, movement creates a path, a path builds confidence, confidence creates momentum, momentum conquers fear. MOVE NOW!

3. Faith. Faith and Fear are direct opposite views of the future and cannot coexist. Both are belief systems about a future condition that has not happened yet.
To boost your Faith muscle, start your day with this declaration: "I am Created by The Creator of all Creation in the image of The Creator Himself; therefore I have in me the power and ability to Create outcomes in my favor."

I accept the blessings God has written into His plan for me.

RISE Beyond [LIMITS]
"A person is limited only by the thoughts that he chooses" -As A Man Thinketh

Our current circumstances are the outcomes of our thinking. We are all given unique inputs as a baseline, but it is our Operating System of thinking, doing, and being that processes those inputs and converts them to our present outcomes.

You will be the same person with the same circumstances in 5 years as you are today but for these 2 things: the diet of content you consume (any form of media) and the people you choose to associate with (mindset influence)

Start your day with this declaration (neurolinguistic modeling)
I have been limited by my limiting beliefs. I am moving out of my limiting beliefs and into empowering truths. I choose a fertile environment so I can consume content and associate closely with people who are positive, uplifting, and prosperous to the growth of my mind-body-spirit.
I accept what God has written into His plan for me.
