Digital Pathology Association Encourages sharing of best practices & promotes use of the technology in order to demonstrate effici

Digital pathology is a dynamic, image-based environment that enables the acquisition, management and interpretation of pathology information generated from a digitized glass slide. Digital pathology is rapidly gaining momentum as a proven and essential technology that is helping to reduce laboratory expenses, improve operational efficiency, enhance productivity, and improve treatment decisions and patient care. It is used worldwide in drug development, reference lab, hospital, and academic medical center settings. Applications include education, research, image analysis, archival and retrieval, LIS/LIMS integration, secondary consultations, and virtual slide sharing.

This case presents a diagnostic puzzle from the skin: a slowly enlarging erythematous papule in a 62-year-old man.

Histology shows a sharply demarcated epidermal proliferation with clear-staining keratinocytes, neutrophils in the stratum corneum, and PAS-positive cytoplasmic glycogen.

What’s the most likely diagnosis?

Epiphyseal, lytic, and expansile, but what’s the genetic signature?

A well-defined lesion in the distal femur raises suspicion on imaging. After curettage and bone grafting, histology reveals more. Can you identify the mutation most characteristic of this entity?

When a full-term infant presents with dyspnea and bullous lesions on imaging, what's your differential?

This case follows a 2-month-old male with respiratory distress and radiologic evidence of cystic lung changes prompting surgical resection. Histology guides the diagnosis, but molecular testing holds the key to the underlying genetic alteration.

A firm, slowly enlarging plaque on the trunk raises a key diagnostic question—and a genetic one.

This case features a 42-year-old male with an indurated cutaneous lesion. Biopsy results reveal the underlying pathology, but do you know which genetic alteration is most commonly linked to this entity?
