Restore Your Core Physical Therapy

Restore Your Core Physical Therapy Dr. Miles also saw the benefit of pelvic floor physical therapy and requested that she work directly out of his gynecology office to better serve his patients.

Restore Your Core Physical Therapy is led by Dr. Amy, Dr. Erica, Dr. Melissa, Dr. Jordan, Dr. Julie, Dr. Ashley, Dr. Meredith and Dr. Hannah -- Providing compassionate, whole-body care to help you feel stronger, move confidently, and live pain-free. Amy became fascinated with pelvic floor dysfunction after sitting through a forty-five minute lecture while in Physical Therapy school at Indiana University. “I just remember so many of my classmates saying how they would never want to work as a pelvic therapist, but I remember feeling energized by that lecture. I knew that day I would seek out the opportunity to learn more about pelvic dysfunction.”
Once a more generalized therapist, Amy was presented with the opportunity to be trained in pelvic floor dysfunction in 2000. Amy became engrossed in the study of pelvic health and she quickly realized pelvic floor dysfunction is often a huge source of pain that is commonly under-recognized by the medical community. Her fascination with pelvic health drove her to establish and launch the highly successful Women’s Health program for Tx:Team Therapy which offered evaluation and treatment of the many conditions that impact women across their life span. Just five years after her successful launch, Dr. Scott Miles and Dr. Larry Davis approached Amy and requested that she join the medical team at the Center for Sexual Medicine. Amy has also mentored several other physical therapists in the area of pelvic health. Over the past 16 years, Amy has focused exclusively on pelvic, abdominal, hip, and low back dysfunction and has taken over 625 hours of continuing education in the area of men’s and women’s health. She is trained in and continues to study Barral Visceral Manipulation, Chikly Manual Lymph Drainage, John Barnes Myofascial Release, Upledger Craniosacral therapy orthopedic and manual therapy techniques, and pelvic physical therapy techniques. In 2015, she completed extensive training and education through the Integrative Pelvic Health Institute and earned her Women’s Health and Nutrition Coach Certification. Amy was invited to sit for and successfully passed the inaugural Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioners Examination developed by Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She maintains her certification as a Pelvic Practitioner which distinguishes her as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic dysfunction. Amy created Restore Your Core Physical Therapy (RYC) in January 2016 at the request of many of her patients. RYC provides patients the one-on-one care they deserve delivered by a single practitioner with extensive knowledge of pelvic floor and musculoskeletal issues. Amy strongly feels patients deserve a professional, safe, and nurturing environment that allows them time to tell their story, explain their concerns and fears, create attainable goals, and then allow them to improve their quality of life by working as a collaborative team. She is a respectful, open, and honest communicator which allows her to quickly and deeply connect with her patients. This deep connection allows patients to open up and discuss personal and uncomfortable topics from the very beginning. Amy consistently embraces a holistic approach to evaluating and treating pain and empowers each patient to contribute to their own healing journey.

Endometriosis can affect more than just the reproductive organs. Chronic pain and inflammation often cause the pelvic floor muscles, abdomen, hips, and surrounding tissues to become tight, guarded, and restricted.

At Restore Your Core Physical Therapy, our therapists take a full body approach when working with patients experiencing endometriosis symptoms.

Treatment may include myofascial release to reduce muscle tension, neuromuscular re-education to decrease muscle guarding, visceral mobilization to improve organ mobility, and core strengthening to better support the pelvis and spine.

These techniques can help decrease pain, improve blood flow, restore muscle coordination, and improve movement patterns so patients can return to the activities they love.

If endometriosis symptoms are impacting your daily life, pelvic physical therapy may be an important part of your care team.

After seeing patients this morning, our team spent the afternoon together for our quarterly meeting.

These meetings give us time to slow down, reflect on what’s working, talk through updates, and plan for what’s ahead for our clinics and our patients.

Today’s meeting was full of laughter, smiles, prizes, crowns 👑, and great conversation about future plans, clinic expectations, procedures, and marketing ideas.

At the end of the day, everything we talk about and plan comes back to one goal: continuing to provide the best care possible for our patients.

We’re grateful for a team that works hard, supports each other, and can still find time to laugh together.

Days like this remind us why we love what we do. 💙

Spring forward… and maybe feel a little off today. ⏰

Losing an hour of sleep can affect more than just your morning routine. Your energy, mood, stress levels, and even your muscles can feel the shift.

If you’re feeling more tired, tense, or noticing your body feels “off” today, you’re not imagining it.

Your nervous system and pelvic floor muscles are closely connected to sleep, stress, and recovery.

So today’s reminder
Drink some water
Take a few deep breaths
Move your body gently
And give yourself a little grace today.

Your body is adjusting too.

Have you noticed the time change affecting you today?

Today some of our PTs and one of our amazing patients showed up in yellow to support Endometriosis Awareness Month.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women, yet many people go years without answers or being told their symptoms are “normal.”

At Restore Your Core Physical Therapy, we’re passionate about helping patients feel heard, supported, and empowered in their healing journey. Pelvic physical therapy can be a helpful part of managing symptoms like pelvic pain, painful periods, bladder issues, and more.

To everyone living with endometriosis, we see you and we support you. 💛

Endometriosis doesn’t just affect the uterus, it can affect the entire pelvic system, bowels, bladder, reproductive system, nerves and pelvic muscles.

Chronic inflammation from endometriosis can irritate nearby tissues, which often causes the body to respond by tightening the surrounding muscles to protect the area. Over time, this protective response can lead to pelvic floor tension.

When pelvic floor muscles stay tight, people may experience symptoms like pelvic pain, difficulty with intimacy, bowel changes, or trouble fully relaxing the pelvic floor.

Something many people don’t realize is that endometriosis stage does NOT always match symptom severity. Someone with Stage 1 may have severe pain, while someone with Stage 4 may have minimal symptoms.

Pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on helping the muscles relax, improving coordination, reducing pain, and supporting overall reproductive health.

If you have endometriosis and are experiencing pelvic pain, pelvic floor therapy may be an important part of your care.

Save this post to learn the signs of pelvic floor tension and how pelvic PT may help.

Call our office today if this is something you would like to address with a PT so we can start your healing!

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. 💛

On average, it takes 7–10 years to receive a diagnosis.

Many people are told their pain is “just bad cramps.”
Severe period pain is not normal.

Endometriosis can impact daily life, relationships, work, digestion, fertility, and mental health. It is real. It is complex. And it deserves attention.

Pelvic physical therapy cannot cure endometriosis, but it can help manage pelvic floor tension, scar tissue restrictions, bowel dysfunction, and pain with intimacy.

If something feels off in your body, trust that.

You deserve answers. You deserve support.

If you’ve ever felt nervous about pelvic floor therapy… this post is for you.

Many people aren’t sure what to expect during a pelvic floor evaluation and that unknown can feel intimidating.

The truth is, pelvic floor therapy is never “one way.”
Your therapist may guide you through different positions to help assess movement, breathing, muscle coordination, and comfort but every step is explained beforehand and always adjusted to YOU.

✔️ Nothing is ever required
✔️ Positions are modified for comfort
✔️ You are always in control of your care

Our goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and heard while we help you move and feel your best.

If you’ve been curious but hesitant, we hope this gives you a clearer look at what to expect 💛
