Half Moon pose is a standing balance that opens the hips, chest, and back while strengthening the ankles, legs, glutes and core.
A block is really helpful for proper alignment in this pose. Notice that as Dory (on the left) is reaching for the floor for support, her hips and shoulders angle toward the floor rather than stacking. For Delaney (on the right), the block gives her support while also allowing her to stack her hips and shoulders. She also has the block away from her supporting leg so that she can keep her spine long, creating a line from her lifted heel through the crown of her head.
