What is TMJ?
Most people say “I have TMJ,” but the truth is… everyone has TMJ.
The temporomandibular joints are the small but powerful hinges that connect your jawbone to your skull. You have one on each side, just in front of your ears. These joints help you talk, chew, yawn, and move your jaw side to side.
When these joints become irritated or misaligned, it’s called TMD (temporomandibular disorder). That’s when symptoms such as jaw pain, popping or clicking, headaches, ear discomfort, and neck tension start to show up.
Because the jaw, neck, and upper spine work together, gentle chiropractic adjustments can reduce pressure on the joint, relax surrounding muscles, and improve overall function. Many patients experience steady relief as alignment improves.
If you’ve been wondering whether your jaw pain or headaches might be connected to your TMJ, let’s take a closer look.
