Meet Renny, the newest (and furriest) member of the Amari Home Health and Hospice team! Renny had his first official day as a therapy dog, and it’s safe to say he’s already a natural.

Renny’s mission is to provide comfort, reduce stress, and bring a little extra light to our patients and their families. Sometimes, the best medicine has four paws and a wet nose. 🐶❤️

Today we recognize the importance of hospice and palliative care and the incredible teams who make this compassionate work possible. Here are the faces of some of our nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, care coordinators as well as our office staff who work behind the scenes. Every role plays a vital part and supporting patients and families with dignity.

We’re welcoming MSW Intern Applicants | Hospice & Medical Social Work (Sacramento Region)

Amari Home Health & Hospice is offering a meaningful, hands-on MSW internship for students interested in end-of-life care, medical social work, and psychosocial support. This placement is designed to help you build clinical confidence and professional identity while being supported by a strong interdisciplinary team.

What you’ll gain:
✅ Consistent supervision, mentorship, and guidance from experienced hospice social workers and an interdisciplinary team
✅ Real-world learning with growing independence—managing visits, prioritizing responsibilities, and strengthening professional skills
✅ A supportive environment where you’re a valued member of the care team while always having backup when you need it

Internship experience may include:
Visiting patients in homes and in care settings (SNF, assisted living, memory care)
Conducting psychosocial assessments (with increasing independence)
Providing supportive counseling to patients and caregivers
Assisting families with resources, care planning, and complex decision-making
Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborative care planning
Observing/assisting with sensitive conversations around illness, grief, and end-of-life transitions
Building skills in communication, boundaries, ethics, and documentation
Learning hospice philosophy, regulations, and systems through training + hands-on experience

Who should apply:
This internship is a great fit for MSW students who are compassionate, emotionally mature, and open to learning and reflection—especially those curious about hospice, palliative care, healthcare, or geriatrics. No prior hospice experience required.
