Carmichaels Area Historical Society, Inc. The Carmichaels Area Historical Society, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, is located in the Greene Academy. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 309, Carmichaels, Pa.

The Carmichaels Area Historical Society, Inc., was formed to ensure the preservation of area historical documents, photographs, and family histories, as well as historic properties in Carmichaels and Cumberland Township. We are dedicated to scanning, digitizing and saving regional and local historical items such as vintage school pictures, military documents and photos, sports team photos and memorabilia, and everything in between in Carmichaels and the towns of Cumberland Township. Please consider becoming a member of the Historical Society. You can find the Invitation-Membership Application Form in the Membership Album. You will need to save the form and print it. Mail the form to the address on the bottom of the form. Checks/money orders should be made payable to: Carmichaels Area Historical Society

Here's the plat map of 7 Biddle Acres home purchased by John and Dolores Penich. Notice township road (Municipal road) was a red dog road and Biddle acres was a federal housing project.

Update: The suspense is over. For those of you who guessed it was located at the juncture of Ceylon Road and Old Waynesburg Road, you are correct.

The house in the photograph was the home of the McCombs Family. Photo was donated by Jerry and Margaret McCombs. The house was sold to the VFW and then later became the Carriage House Restaurant.

Let's have a little guessing game tonight. This photograph was donated today. Let's see if you know the location of the house. I'll post the answer tomorrow. Members of the historical society please do not answer. Suzie Martin, you aren't allow to answer either.

Highlights of monthly Board Meeting, Update on progress of Olde Mill House, and election of new officers.

• Franz Butalla and Lew May installed stand for the mill stone; waiting on scheduling for installation after Thanksgiving.
• Plumbing work for both restrooms is completed.
• Work on stairway lighting is underway.

New officers:

• President: Lewis May
• Vice President: Kim Grimes
• Secretary: Helen Butalla
• Treasurer: Carol Gideon

By-laws were amended. A draft of new by-laws with agreed upon changes will be voted on during December meeting.

Annual membership/donation letter and form was sent out last week.

The Carmichaels Area Historical Society, Inc., office is presently located in the Greene Academy. We are a 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to scanning, digitizing and preserving regional and local historical items such as vintage school pictures, military documents and photos, sports team photos and memorabilia, and restoration/renovation of historic properties in Carmichaels and Cumberland Township.
