Practicing yoga can be a powerful way to help yourself heal after loss. Whether your loss is the death of a loved one, the end of a significant relationship, or surviving a major health crisis or traumatic event, the grief process is often slow and meandering. Yoga can help to comfort you in times of sadness and grief, to feel connection or closure with who or what is lost, and to open your heart and be in the present.

This ongoing workshop helps students develop a toolkit for resilient grieving, including yoga and movement, breathwork, meditation and reflection, journaling, and the company of others experiencing loss. Join Joe-Paul and this yoga group of students addressing grief, adjusting to a new world after loss, and focusing on renewal and investment in health and relationships.

Join Kelly and Neda for the next installment of this six-week series designed to support you in the tender, transformative postpartum period. This class welcomes all new moms and birth parents—with or without your non-mobile baby—to move, breathe, and reconnect with your body in a safe, nurturing space.

Through gentle, mindful movement, you’ll begin to rebuild core and pelvic stability, release tension in the shoulders and hips, and restore balance to both body and mind. You’ll also have the chance to connect with other parents navigating this same season—sharing stories, laughter, and support.

Each class includes:
-Grounding breathwork to calm the nervous system
-Gentle core and pelvic floor reactivation
-Strength and mobility exercises for shoulders, hips, and spine
-Restorative poses for relaxation and release
-Community connection and space to share (if desired)
-A closing rest to replenish your energy

You’ll leave feeling more centered, supported, and empowered as you continue your postpartum healing journey.

Build steadiness, mobility, and confidence in this six-week series designed for every body. All movement takes place seated in a chair or using it for support, making this practice ideal for anyone with mobility challenges, joint sensitivity, or those seeking a gentle yet effective way to stay active.

You’ll move, stretch, and build strength—without strain or discomfort—through a well-rounded, low-impact practice that improves flexibility, balance, and confidence. Each class offers an energizing, accessible workout that engages your entire body while being kind to your joints. You’ll build strength, increase range of motion, and leave feeling more open, grounded, and capable.

Each class includes:
-An inspirational reading for the day
-Centering breathwork
-Upper and lower body warm-ups
-Gentle yoga, strength, and conditioning
-Balance and hip mobility exercises
-A grounding savasana to close

This class is especially great if you travel often or want a routine that goes with you anywhere—no mat or props required, just your chair and an open mind.

Our next foundational 200-hour yoga teacher training begins in January 2026! Come chat with lead teacher Alexandra DeSiato in this free information session.

Drop in early before her 4:30 class and then take the class as our free guest (please register by signing up for this info session so we know to hold a spot for you in class), or come at class time and stick around afterward to ask questions.

Enter the luminous stillness of autumn in this fusion of QiGong, yoga, and embodied dance. Guided by the wisdom of the Metal element—breath, refinement, and release—we’ll nurture the lungs, sense the spacious expanse of each inhale, and soften into the exhale’s quiet letting go.

From that grounded breath we’ll flow into playful, expressive movement, where yoga’s deep listening meets dance’s boundless storytelling. Simple, accessible prompts invite you to move in community and to journey inward, discovering the alchemy of breath and rhythm that awakens joy, creativity, and authentic self-expression.

Together we’ll honor the turning season: gathering fresh vitality, distilling what is precious, and letting the body remember its innate capacity to shine.

Our Story

Carolina Yoga Company is a group of sister studios ready to help you connect with yoga. The Carolina Yoga Company includes Carrboro Yoga, Durham Yoga, and Hillsborough Yoga. We serve the communities of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Durham, Hillsborough, Pittsboro, and all of central North Carolina by creating a space for connection. This can be a connection of body, mind, and spirit; of the individual and the community; of mindfulness with action, thought, and feeling. Our classes meet you where you are, at any age and in any state of being. Join us to connect with the right yoga to help you find balance.

You’ll often find our owners, Sage Rountree and Lies Sapp, enjoying our broad range of class offerings. Together, Sage and Lies direct the Carolina Yoga Teacher Training program. Their commitment to well-being through balance extends to their other businesses, the Hillsborough Spa and Day Retreat and the Carolina Massage Institute.

We are both proud and humble to create a space for connection, community, and balance.
