Allison Danielle Gabbard, 40, of Harrisburg, IL passed away at 11:56 am on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 am to noon on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Graveside services will begin at 1 pm at Gholson Cemetery in Broughton, IL with Reverend Rick Strole officiating.

Allison was born on December 18, 1985 in Carbondale, IL to Rusty Shaw and the former Audra Gabbard.

She earned her associates degree then spent her time as a homemaker. Her family and long-time boyfriend, Jason, were held close to her heart. She had a special compassion and joy for the children in her family. Spending time with her loved ones brought her much happiness and fulfillment.

Allison is survived by her Mother: Audra Shaw of Harrisburg, IL; Boyfriend: Jason Bryant of Harrisburg, IL; Siblings: Autumn (Cory) Vaughn, Skyler Shaw, Christal Essary, Ericia (Chris) Batoe, Sarah Essary and Jessica (Ruben) Urizar; Aunts and Uncles: Rick (Tracy) Strole, Bruce (Donna) Strole, James Strole and Crystal (Bob) Pate.

She was preceded in death by her Father: Rusty Shaw.

Julius Wayne Winters, 78, of Stonefort, IL passed away at his residence at 9:10 am on Monday January 26, 2026. His wishes were to be cremated. There are no services scheduled at this time. Felty Funeral Home of Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Wayne was born on June 25, 1947 in Saline County, IL to the late Rudolph and Ruth (Dempsey) Winters.

He married the former Rhonda Potter on June 26, 1998, and she survives.

Wayne proudly served his country in United States Army. After the military he went on to work for the coal mines for many years. He truly enjoyed working and providing for his loved ones. When he wasn’t working, Wayne loved to spend time with his family.

He is survived by his Wife: Rhonda Winters of Stonefort, IL; 2 Daughters: Terra Winters of Eldorado, IL and Randi Lee Layman of Stonefort, IL; 2 Sons: Michael Joe Basham of Harrisburg, IL, and Wayne Winters of Stonefort, IL; 2 Brothers: Melvin Winters and Gene Winters of Carrier Mills, IL; Sister: Elsie Johnson of Harrisburg, IL; 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death in by his parents Rudolph and Ruth Winters; 2 Brothers: Jack Winters and Rudy Winters and 3 Sisters: Carleen Doughty, Kathy Hughes and Judye Rann.

James A. Abell

James A. Abell, born on April 13, 1971, in Eldorado, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Ridgway, Illinois, surrounded by his family.

Known for his laid-back nature, James cherished the time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and playing sports, but his greatest passion was being a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. A devoted member of Steeler Nation, he eagerly looked forward to cheering them on each season. His enthusiasm brought joy to those around him and became the backdrop for many treasured memories.

James is survived by his loving mother, Janine Cox; his brothers, Tom (Janna) Abell and Wade (Teresa) Abell; his sister, Alice (Troy) Abell-Hughes; and his cherished nieces and nephews: Thomas, Madeline, Pierson, Kourtney, Stephanie, and Chelsie. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Abell.

James will forever be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and the warmth he brought into the lives of those who loved him. His legacy will live on through the strong bonds he fostered and the many memories created at every family gathering.

At the request of family, there will not be a service this time. Felty Funeral Home of Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Larry Gene Portee, 68, of Carrier Mills, IL passed away at 4:46 pm on Monday January 19, 2026 at SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, IL. His wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Felty Funeral Home of Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with services.

Larry was born on February 27, 1957 in Harrisburg, IL to Harlan Portee and the former Brenda Williams.

He was no stranger of hard work having retired from both: the Illinois Youth Center in Harrisburg, IL as a Corrections Officer, and Peabody Coal Mine. He was a member of Harvest Deliverance Center church in Harrisburg. In his free time he could be found fishing, hunting, playing pool or hitting the road for a ride on his Harley. Most of all he loved his family especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Billy Paul Ewell, 90, of Marion, IL made his final journey at 2:18 pm Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Macedonia Cemetery in Mitchellsville, IL. There will be no visitation all friends and family should go directly to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Macedonia Cemetery or Harrisburg Unit 3 Music Department. Military Rites will be held by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions, VFW and the Army National Guard Ritual Team. Felty Funeral Home of Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Billy was born on October 14, 1935 in Rudement, IL to the late Virgil and Lola (Gibbs) Ewell.

He married the former Gradie Sue Austin on October 15, 1954, she preceded him in death on February 26, 2020.

Billy graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1954, then went to serve his country in the U.S. Army until 1961. He worked as a farmer, bookkeeper and for Harrisburg Hospital before opening his own floral shop “Blossoms and Balloons” that he operated for over 20 years.

He was a member of the Freemasons since 1974; deacon for 60+ years, and member of Paradise Alley players. Billy was also the worship leader for: College Heights Baptist Church in Eldorado, IL; First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills, IL and The Church of God in Marion, IL. He held many talents and passions, being an accomplished pianist since the age of 13 and an avid painter.

Billy is survived by his 2 Sons: Kevin Paul (Gail) Ewell of Pittsburg, IL and Eric Christian (Christina) Ewell of Herrin, IL; 2 Grandsons: Kaleb Christian (Brooklyn) of Marion, IL and Carsen Kohl Ewell of Herrin, IL; Great-grandson Keller Christian Ewell; Sister-in-law Rosalie (Dennis) Sinnett of Fort Collins, CO; 2 Brothers-in-law: Dan (Brenda) Austin and Luther Austin; 2 Nephews: Marty (Donna) Austin of Marion, IL and Eddie (LeAndra) of Buffalo, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Lola Ewell and wife Gradie Ewell.
