Happy Friday!
Today we are gonna talk about how Equiscope can help a horse recover from a tendon injury. Now, tendon injuries should be diagnosed by a veterinarian and a rehab protocol established from there. If your horse has a tendon injury, ask them how you can include Equiscope in your therapy.
The Electro-Equiscope uses microcurrent biofeedback to identify damaged tissues and deliver precise electrical currents, restoring cellular homeostasis to reduce inflammation and accelerate healing. This non-invasive therapy works at a cellular level, acting as a "jumper cable" to rehabilitate damaged cells in ligaments and tendons.
How does Equiscope assist with Tendon Injuries:
🔸️Reduces Inflammation & Pain: The device detects areas of high electrical impedance—indicating damaged cells—and delivers targeted stimulation to reduce inflammation and pain.
🔹️Restores Cellular Function: It helps return damaged, low-energy cells to a normal electrical charge, facilitating faster self-healing of tendon fibers.
🔸️Accelerates Recovery: By addressing the root cause at a cellular level, Equiscope therapy can reduce rehabilitation times for muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries.
🔹️Non-Invasive Treatment: It is a gentle, painless, non-invasive method often used for sport-related injuries, including tendonitis.
🔸️Improved Mobility: It promotes the reduction of scar tissue, which can improve overall flexibility and mobility in injured horses.
What is the protocol for a rehab on a tendon?
🔹️Initial Treatment: Typically starts with an initial series of 3 consecutive sessions to maximize the cumulative effects on the injured tissue. These sessions are anywhere from 30-60 minutes and can be performed multiple times a day and multiple times a week.
🔸️Maintenance: After the initial sessions, maintenance or continued therapy is typically scheduled once every four weeks or less, depending on the severity of the injury.
🔹️Acute Injuries: For acute injuries, a higher frequency may be necessary based on the practitioner's evaluation, often focusing on reducing immediate inflammation and pain.
The horse in the pictures below was diagnosed with a suspensory ligament injury of the left front. In the side by side of the limb you can see how much a difference Equiscope made after just 3 sessions in 1 week. The initial swelling decreased greatly and the horse gained comfort almost immediately. We didnt just focus on the leg though, by also including some upper body work we were able to relieve tension in the shoulder and neck to help facilitate recovery.
