Dr. Dvorak was wonderful throughout the entire process. He was calm, reassuring, and made me feel completely confident in our plan.

The nurses were incredible, but we were especially blessed to have Emma Ackerman with us all day during labor. Emma was attentive, compassionate, and constantly advocating for me. She always made sure Dr. Dvorak knew exactly what was going on and helped ease any worries I had. She checked in often, talked me through the hard moments, and made me feel truly cared for. Her presence brought such a sense of peace to the day.

One of the sweetest parts of our experience was when it was finally time for our baby boy to meet his big sisters. A few weeks earlier, they had attended the sibling class and made birthday cards f or their new baby brother. Seeing their excitement when they got to see their cards in our room and finally meet him was something I'll never forget.

We are so grateful for the kindness shown by the students at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Denison! 💙

During Catholic Schools Week, students chose to make tie baby blankets as their service project for The Birth Place. Members of the St. Rose of Lima Student Council recently presented these handmade blankets, which will help keep our newest little patients warm and loved.

👶 March 3rd is Birth Defect Awareness Day 👶

According to the Center of Disease Control (CDC) birth defects affect 1 in every 33 babies each year. Birth defects are structural changes that may affect how the body looks, works, or both.

We could not let the day go by without highlighting the importance of diligent prenatal care and education. Adequate prenatal care allows providers and parents to screen, be prepared for, and sometimes even prevent potential birth defects. It is important to understand that birth defects can happen for many reasons, and not all birth defects can be prevented.

If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, discuss risk factors and methods for screening and diagnosing birth defects with your provider. 💜
