We said good bye to November with many fun activities and memories.

The Breda Legion and Hy-Vee helped us celebrate our Veterans, Bud and John. Congratulations to Bud for being recognized for 60 years of membership to the American Legion! Thank you both for your service! 🇺🇸

The elephant is one of the symbols for Alzheimer's and Dementia awareness. It is based on the animal's famous ability to remember things for a long time. The symbolism connects the elephant's exceptional memory to the importance of remembering those with Alzheimer's and highlights the connection between social interaction and cognitive health. November is Alzheimer's awareness month. So, we handed out purple ribbons to our visitors and residents. We also want to give a special thank you to the library for coming out to stuff "Build a Bear" elephants with our residents. 💜💜

The Carroll County Historical Society gave a wonderful historical presentation on Maple River, Iowa. We enjoyed the hymn singers. They always put on a fantastic performance. The Swan Lake Conservation Center did a presentation on Turkeys!

A special thank you to our dining staff for the wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner they prepared for our residents and their families! 🦃

We hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving and on to Christmas!

Congratulations to our wonderful staff and management for a successful Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing visit on Monday. Journey Senior Services continues to be the best in Assisted Living/Memory Care which specializes in Alzheimer's and Dementia care in Central Iowa.

Happy Birthday to Pam!

It has been a fun filled Halloween week here at Journey!

The girls made homemade pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread.

Swan Lake Conservation Center came out and did a presentation on Fox and Wolves with their pelts.

Our favorite Hymn Singers entertained our residents with their talents. Thank you!

Our residents were able to hand out some treats for our trick or treaters. That is always a very fun time for both young and old 🎃

Happy Birthday to Darlene! We celebrate you this week!

We enjoy our visitors that come out to share their talents and time with us. The Carroll County Historical Society had another great presentation on the history of Mt, Carmel, Iowa. Wendy from the Carroll Library came out for story time.

The Animal Rescue League of Carroll brought out a kitten for pet therapy. The residents totally enjoyed snuggling with him.

It is the Halloween season! That means some scary and fun crafts! We painted pumpkins, decorated with stickers and made ghosts out of cotton balls. RSVP came out to help make mummies and more pumpkins!

Thank you to Calvin and Nancy Stammer for donating National Geographic Magazines from the 1950s. Our residents will totally enjoy looking at those.

Several high school girls from Kuemper have been coming out on Wednesdays to volunteer and spend time with the residents!

Here a few quick photos highlighting our week here at Journey!

It was time to harvest the potatoes and tomatoes. They enjoyed digging them out of the dirt and we all had fun watching our gardens grow this summer!

We had more cats for pet therapy and we fired up some games of Bingo! A resident favorite!

Our sweetcorn is ready! Our residents had a great time picking, husking and preparing it for lunch!

The activity room has been busy with the summer theme board and a lot of fun crafts!

Swan Lake came to visit again this month and their focus was "animals with antlers" There were some fun hunting stories told by our residents. Swan Lake does a great job keeping them engaged. Thank you so much!

We always enjoy the hymn singers who come to share their talent and stories with our residents.

When it is super hot and humid out, it is always fun to put on a movie and snack on some popcorn. One of our more popular movies was the "Apple Dumpling Gang"

We wish everyone a wonderful weekend and enjoy the cooler weather!
