Wondering why WIC only allows low-fat (1%) or fat-free (skim) milk for kids over age 2? The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that kids switch to low-fat or skim milk after they turn 2 to reduce the amount of fat they consume.

⚠ November is Child Safety Protection Month ⚠

Check out the babies of The Birth Place modeling safety! 🥰

Choosing the appropriate car seat for your little one based on their age and size is important for preventing injuries. One of the many ways The Birth Place promotes the safety of your youngest babies is by conducting Car Seat Testing on infants at risk for oxygen desaturation in a car seat. Babies at risk include:

👶🏼 Babies born at less than 37 weeks gestation
⚖ Babies that weigh less than 2,500 grams at any time during a hospital stay
👩‍⚕️ Babies discharged on an apnea monitor
⚕ Babies that have a medical condition which puts them at risk for apnea or oxygen desaturation in a car seat.

There’s more than one way to hold your baby while you breastfeed. Ask your WIC breastfeeding peer counselor for different positions—like the football hold or the side-lying position—that may help you get more comfortable. 🤱
