At Arbors at Carroll, we have the privilege of caring for incredible people whose lives have shaped families, communities, and generations. Every resident carries a story — one filled with love, lessons, strength, and memories that deserve to be honored.
Today, we are honored to share “A Life Well Lived” for Kenneth Conley Sr., beautifully written by his daughter, Kristine. Kenneth was a man whose strength, character, and love left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Thank you to Kristine and the Conley family for trusting us with his care and for allowing us to share these heartfelt words about a truly remarkable life.
💚 A Life Well Lived — Kenneth Conley Sr. 💚
"Kenneth Conley Sr. fought MRSA with everything he had. In the end, it simply became too much for his body, and it was time for God to call him home.
Kenneth was the pillar of our family — the steady hand, the strong back, and the quiet voice of wisdom we all leaned on. He wasn’t just strong in the physical sense, though he certainly was that. His true strength showed in the way he lived, the lessons he taught, and the example he set every single day.
He believed in doing things yourself and doing them right. He taught us how to change a tire and how to drive a stick shift. Those lessons were about more than cars; they were about independence, confidence, and not being afraid to take on life’s challenges. If something broke, he figured out how to fix it. If something was hard, he worked through it.
More important than any practical skill was what he taught us about character. He always said that sometimes all you truly have is your word and your character — and you should never compromise either. He lived by that. He was honest, dependable, and true to who he was. When he gave his word, you could count on it. Those values shaped our family and will stay with us forever.
One memory that shows the kind of father he was happened when I, his daughter Kristine, was young. I jumped a fence in the snow and badly sprained my ankle. I remember crawling through the cold to the back door, hurting and scared. Dad scooped me up without hesitation and carried me inside. Then he did something he never did — he sat me in his favorite chair. No one sat in that chair. It was his spot. But in that moment, he put me there, making me feel safe and incredibly special while he took care of me. That was my dad — strong, protective, dependable, and loving in ways both big and small.
He loved the simple joys: tractors, the roar of NASCAR on the television, and time spent with the people he loved. Those things made him happy, and seeing him happy made all of us feel at home. No matter what was going on, knowing Kenneth was there made everything feel steady and safe.
Now that he’s gone, the space he leaves behind feels impossible to fill. But his lessons, his laughter, his strength, his dependability, and his love live on in all of us. Every time we face something difficult, fix something with our own hands, or stand firm in our values, I know a part of him is still guiding me.
He will forever be missed, but we will also forever carry him with us.
We are grateful for the father and man he was, the example he set, and the love he gave so freely.
He wasn’t just the pillar of our family — he was our foundation.
We are beyond thankful for the staff at Arbors for being an amazing part of Kenneth Conley Sr.’s journey on Earth."
Thank you, Kristine, for trusting us with these beautiful memories. It was truly an honor for the Arbors at Carroll family to care for Kenneth and walk alongside your family during this chapter of his life.
💚 A life well lived. A legacy carried forward by those who loved him most.
