Today hits different.

One year ago, I was lying in a hospital bed recovering from back surgery. Just two months before that, I was recovering from neck surgery. Those were some of the hardest chapters of my life — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I can’t help but reflect on the things I’m grateful for… and at the very top of that list is my oldest son, Michael.

He was there for every moment — every appointment, every ride to the hospital, every minute in that waiting room, every time I opened my eyes after surgery. He made sure I had my medication, checked on me constantly, and stood by me when I needed strength the most.

As a father, you spend years trying to guide your children. What I learned this past year is that sometimes they’re the ones who carry you.

Michael, thank you. For your loyalty, your love, and your presence when I needed it more than I admitted. I’m proud of the man you are, and I’m grateful beyond words that God blessed me with you.

Today, I’m giving thanks — not just for healing, but for the son who helped me get here.

In my book Fitness is a Formula. I talk about the 4 pillars needed to be strong and live long.
1. Nutrition - .5 - 1 gram of protein per goal weight.
2. Hydration - varies upon individual. I take 1/4 tsp of pink Himalayan salt with 20 oz of water. I drink water 💦 throughout the day.
3. Resistance Training- I workout mon,wed,fri and Sundays with resistance bands and cables. Tuesday, Thursday and Sat is core and glutes.
HIIT cardio 3x a week slow steady 2 days a week
4. Rest and recovery. - No one knows quantity and quality are two different things. I still cramp At night due to stenosis. Before technology I would say I get 8 hrs of sleep. The watch says I get 3.4 hrs. Hard to recover without going through the sleep stages at night. I’m working on this this year.
