What we often call “anxiety” on the dance floor
is really the nervous system saying:
“I don’t feel supported.”

There’s been a lot of talk about nerves and anxiety in ballroom dancing.

But the most effective way to calm the nervous system
is to FEEL INSIDE YOUR BODY.

And the fastest way to feel inside your body
is through DEEP SENSATION of the layers of your FEET

One of the richest places for nerve endings in the entire body
is the feet.

When the feet are disconnected, unstable, or gripping,
the body stays on high alert.

Finding your feet changes everything.
Suddenly your hips aren’t stiff.

Your body starts working together again.
I didn’t learn this from trends or algorithms.
I figured it out after 15 years in dance physical therapy, working with real bodies, real pain, and real dancers who refused to give up how they move.

As adult dancers we understand rotation

We know it should happen inside a frame

But what I see in the clinic is that when i'm working on dance performance, the deeper systems of people's body have a hard time activating

The body borrows from the outside muscles to achieve rotation

This kind of setup gives the body something to rotate within

So the work drops deeper into the body instead of spilling outwards

That's when rotation stops, feeling effortful and starts feeling supported

As Dancers, we are expected to use the inner edge of our foot and absorb the ground....but most of us, especially if we started dance as an adult were never taught how to even start to train our foot and ankle properly for this...
