West Georgia Podiatry Medi Foot Spa is excited to welcome Crystal Brown as our new licensed nail technician. Crystal has many years as a licensed nail technician under her belt. She has experience in private spas and Podiatry offices, as well as serving as an instructor at cosmetology school. Crystal has obtained advanced certifications as Medical Nail Technician, and also as Advanced Nail Technician, which has equipped her to identify foot pathology or questionable skin and nail conditions, which she can quickly address with our physicians. We are looking forward to Crystal being a wonderful addition to our practice, and offering a full slate of pedicure and manicure services in a private space within West Georgia Podiatry. We are very excited to welcome Dr. Michael Helt to our team at West Georgia Podiatry! Dr. Helt is a New York native who has always had a profound appreciation and attachment to the West Georgia area. As a child and continuing into adulthood, he would spend summers and holidays with family in and around the Newnan area. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York, his Master of Science degree from TOURO College of Osteopathic Medicine, and then his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Throughout his undergraduate and graduate studies, he held full-time positions at Garnet Health Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center, eventually
working his way up to an Operations Manager for Building Services at Mount Sinai. He then completed a rigorous 3-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency, with an additional reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery credential at Hackensack Meridian Health in North Bergen, New Jersey. Due to his superior clinical skills and leadership abilities, he was appointed to the position of Chief Resident Physician during his final year of residency. Throughout residency, Dr. Helt refined his surgical skills while also having the unique opportunity to work with all specialties including orthopedic, vascular, and plastic surgery, which has provided him with the ability to provide the most comprehensive, leading-edge, foot and ankle care available.
In addition to working with other specialties, he has had extensive training in lower extremity wound care; diabetic foot care and limb preservation; lower extremity trauma; bunion, hammertoes and other foot deformities; chronic degenerative disease; ankle arthroscopy; as well as ligament/tendon/nerve repair of the lower extremity. In his spare time, he enjoys hands-on activities including anything outdoors (particularly fishing), construction, and working on vehicles. Dr. Helt is excited to be making the full-time move to the West Georgia area, and is looking forward to fulfilling his lifelong aspiration of treating patients in his community!
Dr. Helt will be seeing patients in our Carrollton and Villa Rica offices.
