We are so grateful to the Carson City Moose Lodge #2709 for donating stuffed Tommy Moose dolls to our Emergency Department.

🫎 These cuddly companions make a meaningful difference when a child arrives feeling scared or overwhelmed. A simple hug from a new stuffed friend can bring comfort, calm, and reassurance in an unfamiliar moment.

Thank you for helping us provide a little extra care and compassion to our youngest patients.

Children’s Mental Health Week | Feb 9–15, 2026
This week, we’re highlighting why creating supportive spaces for kids is essential. Through Healing Our Kids & Community, we focus on early prevention and outreach, meeting children where they are with play-based, creative experiences that help build confidence, emotional awareness, and healthy coping skills.

Almost 30 years to the day after a double bypass heart surgery that likely saved his life, Carson City resident Royce “Roy” Robinson returned to Carson Tahoe Health to do something he had hoped for decades, personally thank the surgeon who cared for him.

Now 90, Roy reunited with Dr. Todd Chapman, sharing his gratitude alongside his wife, Marcia, and reminding us how powerful trust, compassion, and continuity of heart care can be.

An unexpected fall. Exceptional care. 💙

While visiting Carson City, beloved storyteller Garrison Keillor found himself in need of care at Carson Tahoe Health where he describes being welcomed into a “gentle universe” of compassionate caregivers.

His experience became a testament to what community-based care should look like: expert medicine delivered with kindness, humor, and heart—right when it matters most. From attentive nursing to a successful shoulder reset by orthopedic surgeon Pete Althausen, every moment reflected care beyond the clinical.

Community kindness in action 💙
We’re incredibly grateful for the Fallon Cut-Ups, a group of volunteers who lovingly make Port Pillows for patients in our Cancer Center at Carson Tahoe Health.

These handmade pillows attach to a seatbelt to cushion and protect a port-a-cath, helping prevent rubbing and irritation during everyday drives. They’re given to patients by our care teams as soon as a port is placed, one small comfort that can make a big difference.

This is community, showing up with care, generosity, and heart when it matters most. We’re so thankful for this village supporting our patients.
