The Kitchen Broom Luck Charm
Long before witches had fancy altars and aesthetic Instagram shelves, people used little household charms to keep their homes calm and their luck steady.
One of the simplest was the mini broom charm, made from things already around the house.
The idea was simple:
A broom doesn’t just sweep dust. In folk belief it sweeps away heavy or unlucky energy from the home.
What you need
Nothing exotic. Look around your house.
A small stick or pencil (the broom handle)
A handful of twigs, straw, or dried herbs
String, yarn, thread, or ribbon
Optional: a pinch of salt or a bay leaf
How to make it
Gather your twigs or dried herbs and place them around the bottom of the stick like a tiny broom head.
Wrap thread or yarn tightly around the bundle until it stays in place.
Red, black, or natural string works well, but honestly anything will do.
If you want to add a little extra folk charm, tuck a bay leaf or pinch of salt inside the bundle before tying it closed.
Hold the little broom in your hand and say something simple like:
“Little broom of twig and thread,
sweep the trouble from my stead.
Luck stay near and harm stay gone,
peace remain within this home.”
Hang the tiny broom near your door, in the kitchen, or by a window.
What it means
In old folk homes the broom charm wasn’t about drama or spells.
It was a quiet reminder that the home was tended, protected, and cared for.
Sometimes the smallest objects carry the strongest majick.
