Carson Urologists, Ltd. is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant for our busy Carson City office. This position is full time, Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm. We are seeking individuals with experience in back office, taking patient history, x-rays, outstanding customer service skills, and can function in a fast-paced office environment.

Carson Urologists has been in practice in the Carson City area for over 20 years. We are a thriving, fast paced, private urology practice consisting of 4 urologists, and 2 nurse practitioners. JOB DUTIES:
•Optimizes patient satisfaction and provider time
•Provide safe, knowledgeable, compassionate individualized care to all patients
•Record accurate medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics and test results ensuring accuracy and completeness
•Obtain proper consent forms prior to patient treatment
•Prepare and administer medications and the ability to obtain accurate drug refill information
•Explain treatment procedures, medications, and medical provider instructions to patients
•Instructs and assists patients in pre-operative and post-operative procedures and care
•Assist medical provider with examining and treating patients
•Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
•Knowledge of medical terminology
•Inspects sterile items prior to opening and lay supplies out on sterile field in an organized manner
•Ability to perform follow up and post-op calls in a professional, caring manner
•Skill and knowledge to maintain current Medical Assistant Certification
•Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information in compliance with HIPAA
•Ability and desire to work consistently under pressure in a busy, high paced atmosphere
•Comfortable multi-tasking
•Ability to be flexible in working both back and front office to facilitate smooth workflow

We’re taking baby steps to a new normal … (but baby proofing everything along the way!) We’re glad to say, effective this Monday, January 25, we will bring back outpatient blood draw and EKG testing to Sierra Surgery, located on the Carson Tahoe Medical Campus. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and need to be tested today, please visit our Carson Urgent Care facility located on S. Carson Street or Dayton Urgent Care.

With that said, we are happy to report that our number of hospitalized COVID patients continues to trend downward and we’re beginning to activate our next steps towards the new normal. Effective end-of-day Friday, January 22, we will be closing our Midtown Drive-Thru COVID-19 testing tent, located at 775 Fleischmann Way. Carson Tahoe will still be administering COVID-19 testing for symptomatic patients and non-symptomatic patients with a doctor's order, at our Carson City Urgent Care and Dayton Urgent Care.

COVID-19 VACCINE FOR QUAD-COUNTY SENIORS 70 AND OLDER

(Carson City, NV)- Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is continuing to move forward with COVID-19 vaccinations in the Quad-County Region based on the current federally approved COVID-19 Vaccine Guidance set by the State of Nevada. CCHHS is now offering COVID-19 vaccines to Quad-County residents age 70 years and older.

Starting January 13, 2021 Quad-County seniors aged 70 and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Appointments are required and seniors can register for an appointment at https://bit.ly/2XF64Cp. All Quad-County COVID-19 vaccination events are open to seniors 70 and older. CCHHS will be offering two events for seniors 70 and older next week. Proof of residency and age will be required at time of vaccination. If an individual does not have a driver’s license, documentation of current address and date of birth will be accepted. For questions or assistance scheduling, call the Quad-County COVID-19 Hotline at 775-434-1988.

CCHHS continues to work with the State to identify different outlets for COVID-19 vaccination in our communities. There is no estimated time for when groups will be eligible for the vaccine. More information on how to get vaccinated will become available as the COVID-19 vaccine roll out progress continues. Groups will be notified when they are eligible for the vaccine through a variety of ways including community and senior centers, local media, social media, county communications, primary care providers, pharmacies, medical groups, and gethealthycarsoncity.org.

Living in the midst of a pandemic, we are all learning to stay fluid in our actions within our ever-changing world. That means, due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, for the safety of our staff and patients effective immediately, elective/non-urgent surgeries and procedures will be postponed through November 22, in which time it will be reevaluated. The new guidelines do not apply to emergency surgeries or procedures. Additionally, Carson Tahoe has temporarily closed the lab & EKG services at Sierra Surgery until further notice. If you are looking for lab/EKG services, please go to the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center or Carson Tahoe Specialty Medical Center (lab only).
