🚁 Big Things at CFD in 2025 🚒

2025 has been a year full of progress and growth at the Carthage Fire Department, with many exciting things happening—but one of the biggest milestones was the addition of our Drone Operations Program and Team.

This program would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of our partners. We want to extend a sincere thank you to the Warsaw Fire Department, the Niota Fire Department, and Dan Sullivan with Sullivan Auctioneers for their generous contributions and donations. The funding and collaboration was due to the hard work and dedication of Niota Fire Chief Colton Hardy to help source the funding needed, New programs like this take teamwork, trust, and agencies willing to support one another—and this is a perfect example of that collaboration in action.

We would also like to recognize Firefighter / Pilot Doug Campbell for the countless hours he dedicated to researching and selecting the best drone units to meet our operational needs, as well as mentoring others to help get the program off the ground and running successfully.

Through our continued support of city council and cooperation with the Hancock County ESDA, this new capability strengthens our ability to respond, assess, and serve. Together, we are making Carthage and all of Hancock County a safer place by expanding our services and enhancing public safety.

Happy Birthday FF Potter. We are extremely proud of your accomplishments and eagerly anticipate your continued growth within Monmouth Fire. This year, FF Potter successfully obtained his EMT certification, completed the rigorous IFSI Fire Academy, FAE, HAZMAT Ops, and Common Passenger Vehicles Rescue, totaling 10 weeks at IFSI. 28 years ago tonight around 5:00 a fire call came in that has, and always will be a night to remember. Two firefighters were killed in the line of duty. RIP Mike Mapes and Doug Buckert. May we never forget.

🔥 Big Night for Training in Carthage! 🔥

Last night, Carthage Fire Department had the privilege of hosting a state-sponsored Live Burn training at our very own training center.

Just two years ago we started building this facility with the hope that it would one day be used for nights like this — where firefighters from across the region could train together, side by side, just like we would on a real fireground.

This training brought together 8 local fire departments, building teamwork, skills, and confidence that will make us all stronger when the call comes in.

A huge THANK YOU to:
