Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve, often due to increased pressure inside the eye from fluid buildup, leading to gradual, irreversible vision loss, typically starting with peripheral (side) vision, and can result in blindness if untreated. We encourage yearly eye exams, this is the only way to detect glaucoma early.

Braille literacy is as fundamental for a blind or low-vision person as print literacy is for a sighted person, opening doors to full participation and success in all aspects of life.

National Braille Literacy Awareness Month is a way to raise awareness for the importance of braille for the blind or visually impaired. Because braille is not a language, but rather a tactile code, it can be read and written in many different languages. It’s also important to raise awareness for blind and visually impaired individuals not only in the month of January but throughout the entire year.
