Genetic testing for Huntington's disease is such a personal decision, and Lauren talks about why that decision was best for her. To add an extra layer, her father did not know his results, but she made sure to talk with him first and give him the option to know.

We recommend testing with HD knowledgeable programs/genetic counselors who will provide support, education, and prepare you for your results —whether negative or positive. uniQure's press release today may feel like a partial step back. The FDA does not find (currently) that utilizing an external natural history control is enough for the Accelerated Approval Pathway. This does not change the excitement of the data, but it does change how quickly there will be access to this possible treatment in the future, as we had previously hoped. More time is needed now, but uniQure is dedicated to keep moving forward despite this hurdle. We are here to process and understand how this may feel disappointing. It does not stop here- just know we are here for you to listen, support, and continue to advocate for you.
