❄️ Wellness Wednesday | Walk Like a Penguin 🐧

Icy sidewalks are here — but slips and falls don’t have to be! Stay steady with these tips:

🐧 Walk Like a Penguin

• Take short, shuffling steps
• Keep knees slightly bent
• Point toes outward & keep feet flat
• Hold arms out for balance (not in pockets!)
• Slow down and watch your step

👢 Dress for Traction

• Wear boots with rubber soles & good tread
• Avoid smooth or slick-bottom shoes

🏡 Prep Your Path

• Shovel early and use salt or sand
• Use handrails
• Make sure walkways are well lit

Wellness Wednesday: ❄️Safe Snow Shoveling

During Shoveling-

❄️Pace Yourself: Take frequent breaks and don't overdo it; work in short intervals.
❄️Use Proper Form: Bend at your knees, keep your back straight, lift with your legs, and hold the shovel close to your body.
❄️Push, Don't Lift: Push snow aside, when possible, to reduce exertion.
❄️Small Loads: Take smaller scoops to avoid lifting too much weight.
❄️Shovel Light Snow: Fresh, powdery snow is easier than wet, heavy snow.
❄️Stay Hydrated: Drink water throughout.

Listen to Your Body & Know the Signs
🛑Stop Immediately if You Feel: Chest pain/pressure, shortness of breath, dizziness, lightheadedness, or radiating pain in arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach.
🚨Call 911: Don't wait if you suspect a heart attack; minutes save lives.
