Check this out! I’ve been involved with this program for several years and am so excited about what Inspiration Stables has to offer the community. Recently, the program has established a new, permanent location which has provided so many opportunities for individuals to get involved. There have also been new personnel additions in leadership roles at all levels from volunteers, to program coordinators, to board members. These individuals are committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere and to demonstrate how important these programs are to have in our local community.
I truly believe change provides new motivation for growth . So if you’ve been involved with Inspiration Stables in the past we encourage you to revisit! And if you haven’t been involved with the program, now is a great time to check it out!

Dr . Beck will be booking chiropractic appointments at her facility in Cascade starting the second week in May. Available appointment times will be Monday and Wednesday evenings after 5. Call 319-640-0921 to get on her schedule.
As we wrap up Veterinary Receptionist Week, shout out to Carla who has been invaluable during this transition and will be the familiar voice working with Dr. Coohey!

*IMPORTANT POST*
I wanted to take an opportunity to announce that as of April 1st I will be starting a new career and will no longer be offering veterinary services. I will continue to offer chiropractic care and will have more details to follow regarding scheduling. This has been a multifactorial decision that I have thought and prayed over for a long time. I am so grateful over the last 10 years -through blood, sweat, tears, laughter, and too many gray hairs to count - to have clients that have supported me in achieving a lifelong goal of starting my own equine practice. Thank you!
I will be handing over the reins to Dr. Isaac Coohey who will be available for appointments in June; I will post his contact info as the date approaches. I have known Dr. Coohey for 25 years and am confident he will be a wonderful asset to have in our area! I am hoping to help him through the transition as much as possible- thank you for your patience as we navigate this process.

Long Post Warning Addressing Scheduling...

First, I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather celebrating Memorial Day weekend reflecting on the blessings made possible by the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

With many local veterinarians either retiring or electing to no longer work on horses, 2023 has been hectic to say the least. Stacy and I appreciate your patience as we have tried to accommodate helping out other practices as well as serve our established clients. Stacy does a great job wearing many hats so to speak with being receptionist, scheduler, certified veterinary technician, horse whisperer, and my shotgun occupying sounding board. Sometimes trying to fill all these roles results in a delay in correspondence which has never been intentional; we value all of our clients!

This spring has been an eye opener about the feasibility of continuing to offer on farm services on a daily basis. Therefore, starting June 26, 2023 we will be taking routine appointments on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the haul in facility located in Cascade, Iowa. On farm appointments will be scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday. In addition to the current farm call rate, there may be additional service fees applied to farm call visits based on the number of animals receiving treatment. I know this will affect numerous clients and it has been a decision we have not taken lightly.

As the equine veterinary shortage continues it is important to have a plan in case your regular veterinarian is not available. Growing up our family did not have a trailer of any sort to haul my horses places; but I was blessed to have kind, generous neighbors who hauled me and my horses all over. Thank goodness people like this are still out there! Having contacts in place and training your horse to load will not only save time, but it will also reduce stress in what may already be a stressful situation.
