What is Transarterial Musculoskeletal Embolization (TAME)?

Besides a mouthful, TAME is a minimally-invasive procedure that blocks blood flow to specific, abnormal blood vessels in inflamed musculoskeletal tissues to reduce pain. It is used for chronic pain conditions, especially within the joint, that haven't responded to conservative treatments.

At WIVA, our Interventional Radiologists deliver tiny embolic agents through a catheter inserted into an artery. These agents block the abnormal vessels, reducing blood flow to the painful area. By blocking these vessels, pain signals are reduced, and therefore, less pain is felt.

This International Accounting Day, we'd like to give a shoutout to our Accountant, Jakob Schaeffer! Ledgers and balance sheets make our heads spin, but not Jakob's! He works hard to ensure we can continue to show up every day, solely focused on your imaging care.

Jakob joined CMI in April 2024 as head of our Finance and Accounting department. Before joining our team, Jakob worked in accounting for an aerospace company in Utah. However, he chose CMI & OPR because of our commitment to the community. He says, "I saw a group that genuinely cares about helping the communities we serve and couldn't be happier with my decision!"

Outside of work, Jakob enjoys working out, golfing, and spending time with his niece. We're grateful for your hard work, Jakob, and are proud to have you on this team!

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and our team is focused on early detection to save lives.🫁 Did you know lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S.? The good news: at-risk patients can take a proactive approach with their lung health by getting a low-dose CT scan to screen for lung cancer, which can reduce mortality by about 20%.

To truly kick off the month, National Lung Cancer Screening Day is THIS Saturday, November 8th. Our main campus facility will be open from 8 a.m. to noon to perform lung cancer screenings for qualified patients who have a doctor's referral. Talk with your doctor ASAP and then schedule your low-dose lung CT at our ACR-accredited facility on November 8th by calling (307) 232-1620.
