What began as a committee to address the drug crisis has grown into a thriving nonprofit with 704 dedicated employees. Our vision is to be the premier provider of integrated healthcare, child welfare, and justice services for North Carolina's most vulnerable populations. As we commemorate this solemn occasion, Coastal Horizons extends its deepest respect and gratitude to those who have given everything for our freedom.

At Coastal Horizons, we are immensely proud to serve our nation's veterans through our Save A Vet Now program. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to those who have bravely served and sacrificed for our country. Through Save A Vet Now, we provide comprehensive support, guidance, and resources to veterans, ensuring they receive the care and assistance they need to reintegrate into civilian life.

As we reflect on the sacrifice of our fallen heroes, let us also remember the veterans who have bravely returned home. Their experiences and resilience remind us of the importance of unity, compassion, and understanding. Together, let us honor their sacrifices, uplift their lives, and create a future where every veteran feels valued, supported, and empowered.

In observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 30, 2023, we would like to inform you that our offices will be closed for the day. However, we want to ensure that our commitment to your care and well-being remains unwavering. Therefore, please note the following exceptions:

• All of our groups will continue to operate as scheduled, providing you with the necessary support and resources.
• The New Hanover County Dosing facility will maintain dispensing hours from 5:30 am to 11:00 am.
• Please note that outpatient services will not be available on Memorial Day. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and encourage you to reach out to our team if you require assistance or have any concerns. Our after hours first responder line for active clients is 910-685-0205.

Today we had the pleasure of dedicating a memorial garden to honor the legacy of Worth Bolton, one of the visionaries who started our challenge course. We had the honor of hosting his family, friends and former coworkers at the course. We look forward to our garden growing over the years.

Very soon we will have our official dedication of our new fire pit and Memorial Garden. We’ve made a lot of progress in the past few days. By spring we should have a thick layer of Jasmine, big Butterfly Bushes and some Milkweed for our pollinator friends to visit.

We are happy to announce that we have a whole new set of low challenge course elements. Plan your trip to the course to check them out.
We are also continuing to hire for part-time facilitators. If you or someone you know wants a flexible job with a lot of opportunity for exploring, let us know.

Thanks to the folks at Coastal Carolina Wildlife Rescue for taking this little girl in. I found her upside down on the second step of our bridge. She has an old injury, probably a bite from a fox or coyote. She’ll require surgery and end up living in captivity (possibly the aquarium). I’m glad trail maintenance needed to be done on a Sunday.

The 7th Annual Coastal Duck Derby will take place on Friday, May 20th at Jungle Rapids Water Park in Wilmington. The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit the following Coastal Horizons’ Crisis Intervention Services that are confidential and free of charge.
