Castle Pines Acupuncture Acupuncturist located in Castle Rock, CO MY JOURNEY TO ACUPUNCTURE

My introduction to alternative medicine began with my mom and my bladder.

In my twenties, I used to get bladder infection after bladder infection, which meant one round of antibiotics after another. I knew at the time that it wasn’t good for me to keep taking antibiotics. Western doctors couldn’t find an answer for why I kept getting the infections, the only solution was more antibiotics. In desperation, my mom found a homeopath who prescribed a remedy that took my bladder pain away immediately and healed the infection. Eventually, the need to take that remedy when I felt an infection coming on became less and less until I rarely, if ever, got a bladder infection. I continued seeing a homeopath for other conditions but what I found was, if the homeopath didn’t find the right remedy, nothing happened. As a result, I tried acupuncture. The acupuncturist I began seeing helped me when I came down with the common cold, had menstrual cramps, issues during pregnancy, and with shoulder pain which was the result of a repetitive motion injury and later due to lifting weights incorrectly. Every time I left her office, I always felt a sense of well being along with a relief of my symptoms. Through the years of seeing an acupuncturist, I came to rely on her for any ailment that came along and as someone who listened to what I had to say and always lent a sympathetic ear. Several years ago, my acupuncturist and I talked about where she went to acupuncture school and the training she received. As a result of our numerous talks, and my keen interest in alternative medicine, I knew it was my destiny to become an acupuncturist. One of the key letters of recommendation into the Master’s degree program was written by my acupuncturist. Today, acupuncture is my go to for every ailment affecting my family. While in acupuncture school, I worked on my husband who has chronic back pain due to a ruptured disc in his lower back. Before I began practicing acupuncture on my husband, there were times when he would be in so much pain he couldn't go to work. All he could do was lay in bed and take pain killers and muscle relaxers. Now, the frequency between my husband’s back pain episodes has decreased. When he does feel the pain coming on, I treat him with acupuncture and he never gets to the place where he has to take medications, miss work or lay in bed!

Acupuncture is especially beneficial for conditions like anxiety that affect your mind, feelings, and body because it treats the energy that connects all your body systems. In traditional Chinese medicine, health problems like anxiety arise when the flow of energy, called Qi, becomes blocked.

Acupuncture stimulates specific points along the pathway of energy, releasing blockages, restoring your energy balance, and freeing your body to heal. Acupuncture needles also stimulate nearby nerves and relax muscles.

The plantar fascia can become inflamed when it’s repeatedly strained—especially if pressure continues after the tissue is already irritated. Ongoing stress on the ligament often worsens discomfort and delays healing.

If you’re experiencing heel pain, particularly a sharp sensation with your first steps in the morning, plantar fasciitis may be the cause. As the most common source of heel pain, it’s important to address it early. Schedule your appointment online to begin your path toward relief.

My Story

Vonda Muncy, LAc, DiplAc, provides acupuncture at her practice, Soul Potential Acupuncture & Wellness in Castle Rock, Colorado, where patients find relief from their pain and optimal healing for the full scope of physical and emotional challenges affecting their health. As a highly trained acupuncturist and traditional Chinese medicine specialist, Vonda welcomes all patients including the LGBTQ community. Vonda’s journey to acupuncture began in her younger years when she experienced recurring, painful bladder infections that failed to respond to medical care. As medical doctors continued to do nothing but prescribe multiple rounds of ineffective antibiotics, she turned to homeopathic care, receiving treatment that immediately relieved her pain and healed the bladder infection. Eventually, her need to take the remedy was reduced and she rarely, if ever, got another bladder infection. While Vonda continued seeing the homeopath for other conditions, she found that the remedies sometimes worked, but an effective remedy couldn’t always be found. That’s when she tried acupuncture. Her acupuncturist effectively helped her with a range of problems. Whether Vonda had a common cold, debilitating menstrual cramps, problems during pregnancy, or shoulder pain due to a repetitive use injury, she always felt better following her acupuncture session. Along with symptom relief, she also felt a sense of well-being. At that point, Vonda knew it was her destiny to become an acupuncturist. Acupuncture is the go-to treatment for every ailment affecting Vonda’s family. As she became an acupuncturist, she effectively treated her husband’s chronic back pain, decreasing the frequency of his pain and weaning him away from pain killers and muscle relaxers. Now he never needs medications or misses work due to back pain. Her love of acupuncture is only exceeded by her love of learning. She’s currently working on a second master’s degree in Chinese medicine and will go on for her doctorate. She also spends a significant amount of time attending continuing education or training for acupuncture, learning advanced and highly specialized techniques. She’s one of a few acupuncturists who have completed specialized training in Micro Acupuncture 48 with Dr. Andy Rosenfarb, a leader in the field of ophthalmologic acupuncture. When Vonda isn’t in the office helping patients or learning more about acupuncture, she enjoys Aikido and spending time camping, biking, and hiking with her husband and two active teenagers.
