October is AAC Awareness Month!

AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) is all the ways people communicate beyond using spoken words. This can include sign language, gestures, picture symbols, communication boards, and speech generating devices.

Everyone deserves to have the power of communication - to be heard and understood in all situations and in all contexts.

Did you know? Many AAC apps go on sale this month in honor of AAC Awareness Month!

This week I got to thinking about something that's pretty important and worth addressing:

The importance of always keeping an AAC user's communication device available to them. Even if you think they won't use it! It's their voice. It's their right.

Happy Opening Day! Today marks the start of school year #19 as a speech-language pathologist! I haven't worked in a school in a few years, but I still count in school years! Excited for the year ahead doing what I love.🩷

Good morning! Mid summer update! My office space is coming along nicely. Anyone who knows me, knows I love to decorate. Trying to figure out what to put up on these walls!
