Practicing Mental Health is caring about thoughts and feelings. It’s being patient with your emotions and taking care of yourself. Autonomy helps you do that!

➡️ Autonomy for Athletes is important for confidence!

➡️ When athletes experience autonomy they feel in charge and lead themselves.

➡️ Autonomy is decision making, it’s doing for the self, caring for the self, and reaching for the goals you’ve set.

➡️ Autonomy is giving power to another to feel ownership and self love.

➡️ Autonomy is what our athletes want and need in order to grow! So let's have fun and teach it to them. You can do it! Let's go!!

Kids’ brains get overwhelmed when adjusting to
* school schedules
* social interactions
* new teachers
* new expectations
* different sleep schedule
* homework
Etc

They can’t articulate the overwhelming feelings. But they need EXTRA LOVE AND COMPASSION.

Write down and post it ON the refrigerator-
GIVE EXTRA LOVE
CREATE INNER CALM
BREATHE DEEPLY
BE KIND TO MYSELF

Read this out loud in the morning, in the afternoon, at night.
Smile.
Give more hugs.

Avoid lots of questioning of kids.
Give them 20-30 min after school to decompress.
Tell them “I’m here for you. I got you. I love you.”

Resilience is evolving. No longer a static mindset or decision to bounce back after difficulty. Science says Resilience has changed in this era - it is a dynamic process. Kids and coaches need education, tools and daily practice to nurture ways of becoming more resilient. We support coaches, young athletes and all kids in getting up to date, and we have tools in our new Resilience program. Follow the conversation and Lisa's travels.

We are excited to have Lisa Mitzel (Zen Tiger Mind) visiting Active Attitude on the 29th July to run a "Resilience Workshop."

If you have a child age 7+ and would like to attend, please register via the QR code. It is thanks to our Active Angels that half of the workshop costs have been subsided, so the cost is only $15 per family.

Lisa is from the USA, so we are super lucky to have her visiting us while she is in New Zealand.
