Happy Thanksgiving from Fern Lodge! We have a lot to be grateful for here, including our wonderful patients and hardworking staff, the beautiful plants that fill our grounds, and, of course, the loving and generous community that supports our steadfast care. God's love, resilience, and never-ending compassion is constantly reflected at Fern Lodge, and we are happy to celebrate it today and everyday.

Fern Lodge and Twelveacres invite you to a special joint Annual Meeting on Sunday, September 28, 2025! This event will include a talk by Kate Dearborn, C.S., entitled "Tangible Angels" and music from Matthew and Liz Hammond. So far this spring, Andrew has given about a dozen concerts at Christian Science churches and Christian Science nursing facilities across the western and northeastern states.

Reflecting on his time with us in May, he shares, “‘Brood o’er us with Thy shel’tring wing’ came very much to thought while visiting Fern Lodge . . . I was struck by the overwhelming sense of brotherly love—and Love in the wider sense. Speaking with one nurse, I asked, ‘Why are you a Christian Science nurse?’ His reply: ‘I love it!’ Looking forward to sharing and extending that brotherly love across the U.S.A. as I share the same calm, clear sense of God’s loving arms—through my music and healing ministry—as a natural extension of Christian Science care. It’s an honor and a joy to be part of this.”

During December, Andrew will offer a special Christmas event for us all and our communities: Christ Be in Your Christmas, featuring exclusively the lyrics of Jill Gooding, C.S.B.

Fern Lodge continues to improve and revitalize our programs, facility, and spirit. We remain committed to the vision and practice of Christian healing through spiritual witnessing, which is the essence of Christian Science nursing.

Recently, a loving donor offered a matching grant of $20,000. Until July 31, every donation will be matched 1:1. Your donation will support three key areas: patient benevolence, Christian Science nurse education, and renewal projects.

If you are interested in expanding the matching grant to create a multiplier grant, please be in touch with the front office.

Fern Lodge has a new Director of Music Ministry!

Beginning in May, Andrew Brewis will join us for several weeks each year — providing live performances, working closely with staff members to further integrate music into our healing ministry, and offering workshops on how music can be used as a tool for spiritual uplift and healing. He also plans to provide inspirational workshops across the country, acting as an ambassador of Fern Lodge.

With 35 years of professional experience, Andrew has previously conducted workshops and performed concerts around the world, in addition to composing 8 hymns for the Christian Science Hymnal, and releasing many solos and spiritual compilation albums.

“The more I write,” Andrew explains, “the more I discover how music can spiritually prod and poke us: stirring, awakening, and ultimately healing. It brings me blessings every day, and I love few things more than being able to share these melodies, harmonies, and healing messages with anyone who will listen.”

Two weeks ago, we celebrated the dedication and service of three staff members, Rosa, Jared, and Cybill. Rosa, the housekeeping manager, has been working at Fern Lodge for 30 years, seeing us through thick and thin. Jared and Cybill have graduated from the fourth and final level of Christian Science nursing education. We are grateful for all they have done to further our mission of dignity and care. Congratulations and thank you!
