Well, that isn't good.
I have been carefully preparing myself and my practice to reopen for the past two weeks. I felt I was finally ready last week and reopened Square on my computer, which I hadn't done for the whole summer.
My email password had been hacked at some point over the summer and my entire square account was grabbed by someone who then charged cards to my account in an attempt to steal the money. Turns out they couldn't because SECURITY required information they didn't have, so it sits, Frozen in Time, by the Square Fraud Department and somewhere in the world is a very distressed and unsuccessful criminal jerkface. I do know that "jerkface" isn't professional language, but it's the appropriate language for the situation. Square has ASSURED me that all the charges are being reversed as soon as possible and that full refunds are being issued to everyone. Please be patient if you haven't gotten yours, they are working as fast as they can. (They say!)
I deeply apologize for all the inconveniences that may have occurred. Creating safe space for people to be in a stress-reducing environment with me is my passion and the driving force in my life, and to have quite the opposite happen in 15 minutes was terrifying to me, on all your behalf.
Since I had to reach out to all of you to explain what has happened. . . . I am included my message to reopen. I miss all of you so very much. My practice being closed for the year has been hard mostly because the treasure of my life has been walking alongside in support with you on all of your lives.
I hope you are all well. And again, am so very sorry.
How do I even start?
It's been a year of constant change, reshaping our worlds almost daily, and as a care provider, I'm scrambling to wrap my own hands around it.
But I can wrap my hands around you! I'm so pleased to announce that I'm able to reopen. . . With news, however: One of the year's many changes is that I've moved my practice to a new office! You can find me at 2822 San Pablo, in Berkeley. It's pretty close, very accessible, and is just me and one other therapist! That really cuts down on the in-and-out high traffic of my last building!
I have so much to share, and so much to let all of you know! I will be sending information about safety, COVID practices, and my new office!
