We will be in office May 4th-May 8th (M-F) 9am to 5pm to help by phone with scheduling future routine exams, answering insurance questions and direct ship contact lens ordering. This week will will continue to see urgent care appointments and optical appointments. Our normal hours and routine exam scheduling will resume May 11th. We are looking forward to seeing our patients again soon.

The safety of our patients and staff is our top priority and we have been diligently preparing safety measures as outlined by the American Optometric Association (AOA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to ensure that our patients and staff remain healthy as we continue serving our community. When you schedule your future appointments please follow the new guidelines for our new check-in procedures. As always let us know if you have any questions.

Dear Patients,

We are awaiting Alameda County guidelines on when routine exams can resume. Due to Bay Area shelter in place orders being extended through May. Patients scheduled in May will be contact if we are not allowed to resume care May 4th.

There is growing evidence that COVID-19, may be spread in the absence of symptoms. To safeguard our vulnerable patient population and to provide our healthcare system a fighting chance to address severe cases effectively.

1) For eye emergencies or urgent care appointments
we are replying to text and emails remotely M-F 9pm
We will have temporary phone and by appointment only hours T10am-1pm and Fridays 1pm-4pm

2) For any orders not picked up. If you feel you urgently need your eyewear we will be having limited curb side pick up. Pick up hours are by appointment ONLY Tuesday 10am-1pm and Friday 1pm-4pm. Email or text us for appointments as we are working remotely this week. You can also call during those hours. Please note to follow social distancing rules there will be no dispensing adjustments at this time. When you arrive park in front and call the office and we will meet you at the curb.

3) Contact lens patients with current prescriptions expiring in the next few months can use our online ordering system. Most orders of at least 2 boxes qualify for Free Shipping. Contact us for more details. Dr. Nguyen will be manually approving 6 month prescription extensions through our website.

This decision to shut down was not taken lightly as a medical office and a small business. The well being of our patients and staff remain top priority prompting us to close. If we can save one person through our actions, it will be worth the sacrifices.

Contact lens wear during COVID-19 American Optometric Association (AOA) recommendations:

Exercise Proper Hand Washing. When using contact lenses or spectacles, one should wash their hands carefully and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, followed by hand drying with unused paper towels. This should occur before every contact lens insertion and removal.

People should avoid touching their face, including their eyes, nose and mouth, with unwashed hands.
Disinfect Contact Lenses. Contact lens wearers should either dispose of their daily disposable lenses each evening, or regularly disinfect their monthly and two-week lenses according to instructions from the manufacturer and one's doctor of optometry.

Discontinue Lens Wear if Sick. Consistent with recommendations for other types of illness, those who feel ill with cold or flu-like symptoms should cease contact lens wear.

Glasses are Not Proven to Offer Protection. There is no scientific evidence that wearing spectacles or glasses provides protection against COVID-19 or other viral transmissions.

Healthy individuals can continue to wear and care for their contact lenses as prescribed by their doctor of optometry.

Dear Patients,

Due to the recent declaration of a national emergency and local shelter in place orders, we have decided to shut down all non-essential services to help contain the spread of COVID-19. There is growing evidence that COVID-19, may be spread in the absence of symptoms. To safeguard our vulnerable patient population and to provide our healthcare system a fighting chance to address severe cases effectively, we will be shutting down all non-essential services starting March 17th.

Services that will still be available day by day in limited hours until Friday March 20th (closed Wednesday):

1) Dispensing of current pending orders. (By appointment only. No walk ins)

2) Medical emergencies (By appointment only. No walk ins)
3) Phone services (9am to 1pm, 3pm-6pm)

4) Direct shipping of contact lens (text or call 510-581-1680) We will extend prescriptions expired within 6 months and arrange direct shipment of a minimum of 3-6m supplies. We are working on getting an online ordering system in place. Please check back here for updates.
