The journey to be your surgeon...

Mom, I’m going on the cheapest ski vacation ever to Gore Mountain, NY....

That’s how I tore my ACL and started a journey to become an Orthopedic Surgeon. I was scrubbing into surgery at the University of Pittsburgh with my mentor, Dr. Fu, even before I went to medical school.

I’ve unfortunately had more than a few surgeries since and so I feel that I have a unique viewpoint when I tell you about your knee, shoulder, hip, bicep or carpal tunnel...Ha!

I was fortunate in training in Morgantown, WV to work for a decade at a level one trauma center. There is not much I haven’t seen. I was even the Foot and Ankle person and backup Pediatric person at times. We were lucky that we had so many patients that we didn’t have to be aggressive with surgery. Since I’ve moved to Maryland I see that many doctors downtown take a very different approach to Orthopaedics.
