Wig making tip OTD:

I'm gonna keep this long and short.
I have made so many wigs (hand stiched), and I have had many trials and errors. Here's what I learned that works best for me!
● First of all, if you are adding color or high lights, always opt to that first! It makes it way easier and allows for faster, more strategic applications.
● second, no matter how full you want your wig to be, always split the tracks in half! When my clients are going for the maximum fullness, I may not split the first two bundles but absolutely split the last bundle. This avoids the HELMET LOOK and releases the heaviness. It also makes the hair look light and airy because you release the weight! The top should always be as flat and seamless as possible!
●no need for clips and attachments, just a thin 1/4 inch elastic in the back, period. Much more comfortable and very secure. Those thick bands are pointless.
●always lay the closure first.

It's really sad that in this new age of hair stylist, they think it's a privilege to speak on the phone and build a report with a potential client. The beauty industry as a whole is about making people feel good and relationship building. It's about the exchange of energy, and as a stylist, we should be honored to be chosen.

I'm from the old school, I still do business from a landline, and I separate my personal cell from my business phone as a way to remind me I am a professional! You won't reach me at the party, you won't reach me spending time with my family but you will reach me in the salon ready to serve.

Let's normalize human interaction with our prospects before we lay hands on them. This is one of the loudest complaints I hear, especially from my mature and professional clients. They also want to make sure they make the right choice before clicking buttons and making non refundable deposit!
