During this Mother’s Day Week, please remember that some people did NOT have a kind, compassionate Mom who nurtured them and helped them grow into healthy adults. Therapists warn Clients with abuse issues from parents to avoid FaceBook during most of May and June when people post messages like:
“ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR Mother/Father”
“You owe your Mother/Father everything…”
Don’t get me wrong….making a post for your Mom/Dad because they are wonderful is AWESOME…just PERSONALIZE it instead of generically telling everyone they should feel/do the same….People who have been abused by a Parent hurt very deeply that they don’t have the same amazing stories to tell about the people who were SUPPOSED TO love them unconditionally and protect them! BUT…they often need role models and can gain so much wisdom from posts that explain EXACTLY WHAT your mom/dad did to fill your heart and grow you into healthy adults who have great relationships ♥️♥️♥️
