RAMPING UP OUR CUKE INTAKE
Helps answer our body’s craving for cooling foods in the summer.
Besides seemingly endless creative recipes for cucumbers…..
Think:
~ Cucumber honeydew
pistachio salad
~ Cucumber pico de gallo
~Dill pickles
~Cucumber yogurt sauce with
falafel
~Cucumber tomatillo gazpacho
~Strawberry cucumber ice pops

Cucumbers have their own gifts
of health and body benefits.
Cukes:
~ Can help lower blood
pressure
~ Destroy the bacteria that
causes bad breath( by
holding a cucumber slice on
the roof of your mouth)
~ Support bone health( by
providing both calcium and
vitamin K)
~Can help control/prevent
diabetes
~ Help reduce wrinkles,
blemishes, signs of aging

Cucumbers also have anti-inflammatory properties.
As is becoming more widely known, inflammation can help trigger:

PATIENCE OR IMPATIENCE….
By expecting things to go in our way, which sometimes they don’t, we can easily set ourselves up for impatience.
That impatience only leads to frustration and worse.When we allow impatience into our lives we are looking ahead to the future and are not able to experience the present moment.
Impatience doesn’t make things happen any faster and is detrimental to us and to others.
By choosing to bring patience into our lives we make room for taking in and appreciating the present moment. And that will bring more peace into our lives.
Yes, it’s a choice.
PATIENCE OR IMPATIENCE…..

A FRAGRANT CULINARY HEALTH BENEFIT
Lavender is all of this!
Intoxicatingly fragrant,
A culinary treasure and
A myriad of health benefits.
Think all natural lavender perfume, sachets,soaps.
Dream of (and even make)Blueberry lavender scones (Divinely delicious, I can tell you from experience!), Lavender lemonade, Lavender honey tea bread just to name a few.
But I think the most impressive quality of Lavender is it’s subtle but powerful health benefits.
Lavender actually contains various chemical compounds that can benefit your health and well-being such as:
~ Reducing anxiety
~ Lowering blood pressure
~ Improving melatonin levels,
thereby aiding sleep
~Lessening depression
~Calming the nervous system
~Lifting one’s mood
~Relieving menstrual pain

Think of the side effects of using medication for all the above conditions.
Lavender comes right from Mother Earth and has no side effects whatsoever!
And you thought lavender was just a pretty face!

BOTH MUSIC AND DANCING
release endorphins (our “happy hormones”), reducing stress and anxiety, calming us and instilling us with happiness.
Dancing and singing or playing music keeps us in the present moment, where we are not concerned with the past or the future.
Drumming is one of the best forms of music to relieve stress. The sound vibrations of drumming stimulate the release of negative emotions and help boost the positive ones.
Drumming in community can add to that benefit, as the joy and happiness that is felt is contagious.
The reason that not too many people are smiling in this video is that this is a drum lesson for some of us first timers. Even though I was smiling from ear to ear because I couldn’t contain my joy, most people weren’t because we were all trying to concentrate so hard on “getting it right”. It was SO much fun I didn’t want it to end!!
How often do you sing and dance? Doesn’t it feel wonderful!?

BOTH PREVENTATIVE AND CURATIVE
Mother Earth‘s food is both.
This means real food, whole food . Not manufactured food.
Whether or not we have a predisposition to cancer, diabetes or heart disease, eating foods made from fresh ingredients can help us maintain our health and keep dis-ease away.
Each food group has its own special gifts, nutrition and purpose - to keep our hearts, blood sugar, cholesterol levels, brain, and the general workings of our body healthy.
It’s not just happenstance that whole foods keep us healthy. Foods are created to be on this earth with just that purpose in mind.
Have you noticed that over the last many years much of the population is getting sicker and sicker at a younger age? People have strayed so far away from real ingredients and are now unfortunately paying the price for it with their health.
But it’s not too late to return to the way nature intended food to be. Not made in factories, but in our own kitchens, with fresh whole foods.
You will then notice feeling healthier, more energetic , and with a clearer mind.
I love what Hippocrates said about 2400 years ago:
“ Let food be thy medicine and let medicine be thy food.”

FEEDING YOUR SOUL
Life for many of us can be so fast paced it’s like running after a train that won’t stop.
We might find ourselves always thinking about what to do next, our days on automatic pilot.
Without taking control of the reins of life this pattern can go on for years, resulting in decreased happiness and increased stress and anxiety.
With lessened happiness, lessened excitement for life, with stress and anxiety levels growing our health, well-being and inner balance can start to go awry.
One of the ways to counter this is to make a daily effort to feed our souls. When we are involved with something that is meaningful, some thing that speaks to us those struggles,fears and worries can fade. When our souls are nurtured we can become more peaceful and more balanced within. This state can then remain with us and carry us through our day. I
As important as it is to take the time out each day to feed ourselves good quality and nourishing foods, it’s equally as important to feed our souls with whatever nourishes us.
Please remember how important you are and gift yourself with that necessary food for your soul.

When things don’t go as planned it’s so easy to allow the disruption to take over our lives. Acceptance is a big part of life and can help us get through our days with much more is.
We can only control our own reactions, certainly not outside events or the behavior of others.
Having accepted a fractured spine and concussion have made life so much more peaceful. Things have slowed down (WAY down), which has allowed me the opportunity to become more mindful during my day.
Try noticing what or who you have no control over and turn that realization into peaceful acceptance.
You will then notice how much easier, smoother and more peaceful your life is.

LIGHTEN YOURSELF WITH GRATITUDE
There’s no avoiding hardships in life. Each of us goes through them. And yet every single one of us has so much to be grateful for.
When life‘s challenges overwhelm us we can either go down the path of feeling sorry for ourselves or choose to recognize everything we are grateful for.
We can make a list of the hardships our difficulties have created, which can seem endless. The more we add to that list the harder our difficulties become.
OR
We can choose to make a list of all we’re grateful for. And that list can become endless.
And miraculously that gratitude list can take over! We can notice ourselves breathing easier, stress dissipating, depression being alleviated. We can begin to see life in colors instead of black and white.
The more we practice daily gratitudes, the more we can notice our health improving, our happiness growing and our hearts becoming lighter.💜
