Mrs. Marie Evelyn (Poynter) Coats, age 84, of Bowling Green, Kentucky and formerly of Cave City, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at her home. Marie was born in Cave City, Kentucky on March 6, 1942, and was a daughter of the late Charlie and Ruby Hatcher Poynter. After graduating high school, she attended Bowling Green Business College and obtained her bookkeeping degree and worked for Dr. Stewart for several years before retiring. Marie enjoyed traveling, and spending as much time with her family as possible. She was a devout member of the Servant Valley United Baptist Church.

She is survived by five nephews, Dennis Poynter and wife Judy, Leron Poynter, all of Cave City, Billy Joe Poynter, of Lawrenceburg, Dale Poynter and wife Georgia of Indiana, and Terry Poynter of Louisville. A special friend and caregiver, Shirley Jaggers, of Brownsville, along with a host of great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Houchin Coats, son, John William Coats, one sister, Leona Denton, six brothers: Paul, Elvin, Roger, Norman, William, and Floyd Poynter, one niece, Linda Poynter, and four nephews, Charles, Eddie and Steven Poynter, and Jeff Denton.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Servant Valley United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Cave City Cemetery. Bro. Garry Watkins and Bro. Joey Hall will be officiating the services.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, and on Saturday morning after 9:00a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Bobby Gaston Brown, 75, of Cave City, Kentucky, formerly of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, after a long illness. Bobby was born on January 2, 1951, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to the late Gaston Franklin “Hoover” and Mary Louise (Sandrell) Brown.

Bobby was a native of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee where he worked at local dealerships, Chrysler Country and Lawrenceburg Chrysler as a new and used car salesman. He knew cars, inside and out. At the age of forty, he moved, with his wife, Lynne to Memphis, and a few years later to Cave City, Kentucky where he built and managed a successful GM Dealership, Cave City Chevrolet for long time Lawrence County resident Donald Massey and his partner, Arnold Palmer. After moving to Cave City, he and Lynne bought a farm and became cattle farmers, Border Collie breeders, and raised chickens. After retiring, Bobby spent a lot of time on his boat at Barren River Lake, and fishing soon became his favorite hobby with longtime brother and friend, Dr. James P. “Doc” Crews. During this time, he repented his sins to Jesus Christ, our Lord and savior, was baptized and became a trustee in the church. He enjoyed farming and fishing as much as he could. Bobby honorably served his Country in the Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Lynne Lambert Brown of Cave City, daughters, Kimberly Brown Gowen and Chris, of Bowling Green, Carla Murdock Vibbert and Seth of Gallatin, Ashley Smith Mouldon and Michael of Cave City. Three granddaughters, Taylor Gowen Flint and Tyler of Ashland City, Kady Marie Gowen and Tyler Bush of Glasgow, Anna Curd Phelps and Dylan of Gallatin, one grandson, Aidan Curd and Taylor of Gallatin, along with several aunts, cousins, and great-grandchildren also survive. Also, his good friend and fishing partner, Ryan Broers and his honorary son, Richie Gamel.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by one daughter, Kari Melissa Brown, his maternal grandparents; Mary and Ben Sandrell and paternal grandparents; Carrie Lee and William Brown along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens with full military honors being provided by the American Legion Post 146. Pastor Ryan Broers will officiate the service.

Pallbearers: Chris Gowen, Tyler Flint, Kevin Bedford, Seth Vibbert, Dylan Phelps, and Aidan Curd.

George Schieler, age 83, of Leland, North Carolina, formerly of Cave City, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026.

He was born in San Diego, CA on November 30, 1942, the son of George and Alvira Schieler. The family soon moved to the Chicagoland area where he spent his childhood and attended Prospect High School, graduating in 1961. He served in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne from 1964 to 1966. Following an honorable discharge, he worked in the printing business for nearly five decades. In 2018 he moved to North Carolina where he enjoyed golfing and the company of many new friends.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Donna Schieler; brother Donald (Phyllis) Schieler; children Glenn (Cathy) Schieler, Paul Schieler, Richard (Heather Cunningham) Schieler, and Amanda (Patrick Lawlor) Schieler; step-daughter Alaina (Addam) Krucek; grandchildren Rebecca, Christopher, Elise, McCartney, Cassandra, Hana, Eden, James, Nora, Nathan, Hannah and Noah; and great-grandchildren Cameron and Olivia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; his late wife Patricia Schieler; and his sisters Ella Mae Rundgren and Joanne Pishotta.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Cave City Cemetery, with burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of George.

Mr. Billy Gene Wilson, age 62, of Horse Cave, Kentucky, passed away on Friday evening, March 6, 2026, at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. Billy was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on March 19, 1963, a son of the late John Riley and Lucy Mae (Davis) Wilson. He worked for Randy London on the farm and loved to fish and mow the yard.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Melissa (Doyle) Wilson, their daughter, Shelby Wilson and her companion, Ryne Logsdon, all of Horse Cave, a stepdaughter, Markita Bailey, and granddaughter, Lainey Howe, of Hiseville, one sister, Sharon "Sissy" Wilson and her companion Odell Robertson, of Horse Cave, niece, Latasha Wilson and her companion Terry of Cave City, nephew, Robert Lee Finn and wife Amy, two great-nieces, Aaliyah Gossett and Mea Finn, and four great-nephews, Brennan and Braydon Finn, Jamison Pippin and Keenan Gossett. A Special Daughter, Kim Lacey, his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Linders, and three brothers-in-law, Christopher and Hannah Lindsey, Raymond and Kelly Lindsey, and Michael Doyle, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Randy Wilson, a nephew, James Howard Wilson, six aunts, and one uncle.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel in Cave City, with cremation to follow after the services. Friends and family will be speaking and sharing stories.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, after 9:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m.

Ronald Morvillo who was a resident of Pine Bush, New York, died on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Signature Healthcare of Hart County after a long struggle with Mental illness. The son of the late Ralph and Theodora “Tootsie” Morvillo, he was born January 20, 1955, in Bronx, New York.

Throughout Ronnie’s younger years he enjoyed Martial Arts, Bow Hunting adventures and a passion for sports cars. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. For several years Ron and his father Ralph ran Valley Sanitation in Walker Valley New York. Ronnie then moved and completed his journey in Kentucky.

Ronnie leaves behind his children, Nicholas Morvillo of Albany, NY, Ronald Morvillo (Alexis) of Pine Bush, NY and Katelyn Tacti of Kerhonkson, NY, his grandchildren, Lilah Morvillo, Aubrey Morvillo, Colton Morvillo, Anthony Tacti and Lainey Tacti. Siblings, Ralph Morvillo, Debra Bradford (Richard), Dana McGraw and Joseph Morvillo along with several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Ellenville Reform Church at 188 Canal Street,
Ellenville, NY the day and time will be determined at a later date.

Mr. Coy Presley Monroe, age 68, of Cave City, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow, Kentucky. The Barren County native was a lifelong farmer. He was employed by Monroe Brothers Feed Mill for 22 years. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture in 2018. Coy was a skilled pitmaster smoking numerous hogs for all occasions. His annual hog roast was a staple for family, friends, and neighbors. He was an avid John Deere and Case Knife collector.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Presley Monroe Jr. and Joyce Grimes Monroe. Uncles, J.Y., Bobby, and William Monroe. Aunts, Ruby Gibson, Betty Wilkins, Carolyn Monroe and Nancy Monroe. Special nephew, Matt Monroe. Nieces, Samantha and Amy Monroe.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Nathan Monroe and Amanda Everett-Monroe. He was Pa Coy to his grandson, Waylon Monroe. Two sisters, Jennifer Kinsner and her husband, Dan, and Vinetta Daniell and her husband, Stuart of Bowling Green; one brother, Sammy Monroe and his wife, Vicki, of Cave City. Three nieces, Sammye Jo Estes and her husband JR, of Cave City, Dana Maulden and her husband, Adam, of Cave City, Rachel Shirley and her husband, Mason, of Taylorsville. One nephew, Alex Daniell and his wife, Savannah, of Bowling Green. Uncle, Larry Monroe and his wife, Patricia, of Cave City. Aunt, Joann Monroe, of Lillian, Alabama. Several great nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel in Cave City, with burial to follow in the Penns Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery in Warren County.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday after 9:00 a.m. until the time for services at 1:00 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Matt Monroe Memorial Scholarship Fund at 1105 South Toohey Ridge Rd. Cave City, KY 42127.

Obituary of Steven A. Poynter

Mr. Steven A. Poynter, age 63, of Beattyville, Kentucky, formerly of Cave City, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Lee County Care and Rehabilitation Center. Steven was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on September 1, 1962, a son of the late William and Lydia (Doyle) Poynter. He was a 1981 graduate of Caverna High School, an avid UK fan, and enjoyed watching baseball.

Steven is survived by his brother, Billy Joe Poynter, one niece, Denise Poynter Clark and husband Kevin, one nephew, Chuck Poynter, one aunt, Marie Coats, and a host of extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Wayne Poynter, and his grandparents, Charlie and Ruby Poynter, and Lum and Sadie Monroe Doyle.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Poynter-Hatcher Cemetery in Cave City, Kentucky with Bro. Walter Decker officiating the service

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel in Cave City.
