For infants under six months of age, direct sun exposure should be avoided. Sunscreen application is not recommended for this age group due to their highly sensitive skin.

For children six months of age and older, a mineral-based sunscreen is advisable. Products containing either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are suitable as they create a physical barrier and are well-tolerated by sensitive skin. An SPF of at least 30 is generally recommended, with many suitable options offering an SPF of approximately 50. Reapplication should occur every two hours to maintain efficacy.

Hydration Guidelines for Children

Before engaging in sports activities, it is recommended that children consume 8–16 ounces of water approximately 1–2 hours beforehand, followed by an additional 4–8 ounces about 30 minutes prior to the activity.

During sports, please ensure that breaks are taken every 15–20 minutes for hydration. Children aged 9-12 should drink 3–8 ounces of water during each break, while teenagers require 12-16 ounces per break.

Following sports, it is advisable to replenish lost fluids with water or a snack within 30 minutes after intense activity.

Warm, sunny days are wonderful.Warm, sunny days are wonderful but it is crucial to keep your family safe from too much exposure to the sun's harmful rays.

Keep babies younger than 6 months out of direct sunlight. Find shade under a tree, an umbrella, or the stroller canopy.

Dress yourself and your children in cool, comfortable clothing that covers the body when possible.

Wear a hat with an all-around 3-inch brim to shield the face, ears, and back of the neck.

Limit your sun exposure between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., when UV rays are strongest.

Wear sunglasses with at least 99% UV protection. Look for youth-sized sunglasses with UV protection for your child.

Use sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours. For babies younger than 6 months: Use sunscreen on small areas of the body, such as the face, if protective clothing and shade are not available.

Measles can be prevented by vaccinating your child with the MMR vaccine.

It's crucial to understand that vitamin A does not prevent measles, and giving it to a child for this purpose is not advisable. Vitamin A is a micronutrient; our bodies only require small amounts, readily obtained through a balanced diet or recommended doses of multivitamins. Excessive vitamin A intake over extended periods can be harmful, potentially causing vomiting, blurred vision. headaches, and in severe cases, liver damage and coma.

While vitamin A may be administered under a doctor's guidance to lessen measles symptoms in infected children, this is a controlled, small dosage within a medical setting.
