Recently I was talking to my husband about how I talked to a client about treatment alternatives and he quickly interjected, “did you tell them you’re not a doctor!?” I said “they know that”. But you don’t have to be a doctor to know helpful treatment options, to understand science about the human body, or to use intuition regarding your health or your child’s health.
Doesn’t it count for something that I went through the ringer with my own health crisis and have since been in the wellness world for 11 years? That I’ve listened to hundreds of hours from nationally recognized doctors? That I’ve worked with more than a handful of local holistic practitioners?
It’s not equivalent to a degree, but it has value. We have an ocean of information at our fingertips. Doctors taking 10 years off of doctoring to write a book about vaccine history (Dr. Suzanne Humphries) or compiling the 15 years they worked with mold patients (Dr. Jill Crista) or Joe Rogan interviewing the best and brightest in wellness and biohacking.
The information is out there; you don’t have to wait on any doctor or script to make the next move towards health. And who knows, maybe the crazy beetroot lady in town might have a tip or two.
