This is the original mural in this 100 year old church we’re were at in Idaho today. It is on of just a few murals the artist painted before he die and they have been able to preserve it all this time.

The other pictures are of the primary room with another beautiful mural and the original tiny pews. This was a fun church use for the funeral today.

My office today. It was a very long day as we traveled to Mink Creek, Idaho. I truly believe that this place is a little slice of heaven on earth. This is my kind of place. I could live here and be truly happy.

We had to set up differently today because the grave was so unstable because of the recent abundance of moisture in the area.
The actual grave was 6 to 7 spaces to the north. We didn’t want anyone walking around the unstable open grave during the dedication of the grave.

As I mentioned on my radio show, I am a much better Funeral Director than I am a tile setter. I thought it would be a “fun”project for me and my kids to do. We had a good laugh at it when we were ”done”. I told my oldest son that this is the reason people pay professionals to do this. He really made me feel good when he said “ya, but in the future we will be able to say remember when we put this bathroom in together”. He is right, as bad as it looks we created memories that we will cherish forever.

Me and Connie on the radio show yesterday, talking about the importance of creating memories with your family. Creating memories and spending time with each other is so important. In my opinion the best funerals are filled with shared memories.

Me: “why, yes we do”

I think this is one of my favorite urns now.

As mentioned on my radio show today, we are so grateful for good mentors. We homeschool our children and as part of that we seek out good mentors to help our children learn (not just stuff out of a book). Joel has been facinated with forging metal in to knives and swords and making leather sheaths to hold them, he also also loves wood turning on a lathe. Together we learned how to make a simple forge together, he has been pounding away ever since. My skills at forging are limited at best so we have sought the help of others. I heard of some retired gentlemen who are very skilled in metal and leather and wood turning. They have taken him under their care and are teaching him their skills. This is education at its best. Learning from the masters of the trade.
We can all be mentors in some way to help the rising generation. Don't let your knowledge and skills fade, share it in someway so that you skills and trade will continue on through others.

I finally took a half day off yesterday and I was drawn to the garden(hard to believe in January). This is what I found! 4 gallons of carrots. I need to take more days off, who knows what else I will find. problem is, now there is no room in the fridge.
